'03 6i Muffler help T_T

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what mufflers to get. I was looking for something that was almost similiar to the stock, but still increased HP. I went to the local race shops and the mufflers are f'in coffee cans....>_< (ricer)

Thanks ^^

either wait for draxas or order the magnaflow catback, also racing beat and bosel makes a axle back

can't get hp from a muffler on a 6i.....it has the same exhaust exhaust designed for the V6(-manifolds) draxas has their mufflers out....and all the V6 marked catbacks are the same untill you get past the cat to the engine....

see the link below for video of the mufflers on a non modded 6i(right click and save as if you have a slow conection) and my post at the bottom leads you to the mufflers...the choice is 3 inch tips or 4 inch tips

I got these at PF&E, custom exhaust shoppe, cost 250 for stainless
mandrell bend piping, flanges and these 4" straight thru resonators.
Stock exhaust is HEAVY as heck compared to these...

No HP gain from mufflers. Stock 6i exhaust is non restrictive. (Some areas for improvement, but not major ones). 6i has 4-2-1 headers, going to a single pipe/dual cat, and then out to two pipes...each muffler is handling only half the exhaust load, barely any restriction at the mufflers at all.

For the 6s, its going from restrictive manifolds, into big precats, into two main cats, back into a single pipe, then back into dual pipes and dual mufflers at the end. Once again, exhaust load split between two mufflers, not a serious restriction by any means.

Honestly if you wanted the most performance possible out an exhaust, you'd get a single pipe, with a SINGLE muffler, going out. Eliminate the second muffler, the Y intersection, and the corresponding pipe. That'll increase the efficency of the system, increase flow, and decrease cost and weight. Of course it will look debatedly less cool.

Well, you might be right about the single Fartcan giving most power, i have the 6s but i will not be cutting into my exhaust to mod that, the way i have it setup i can bolt the stocker back on and go into quiet mode with couple of bolts.

Cheers,

You hit it right on the head - current exhausts are merely appearance and sound mods, with minor potential for weight gains. Performance - nada or thereabouts.

draxas does plan on making a 2.5inch mid pipe after they release the headers for the 6i though

Bosal is working on a center pipe too and plan on selling it as a seprate piece for those who bought the rear section(Mufflers) already.

sweet, i just became a bosal dealer this morning, they dont have prices for the 6 yet though

RevItUp cars had Bosals - sounded nice (last year's 6's). Of course, neither they nor the current Magnaflows do a carpload for perf.

I wonder which are 'more liveable' for daily use (for me - neither is!)

I'm assuming the 6 on the link below that has rev it up on the side of it is the one or one of that you were refering to...Just need to hear both before I decide...anyone going to the saturday meet have 6i with bosal and magnaflow rearsections and/or catback

off topic..anyone have problems scheduling a room in double tree since D.C. is extremely busy this week?

ashu did you ever get your Injen intake yet... I still can't join 6 club!

off topic response - I was never seriously planning to get a CAI. And I'm still not.

Lotsa Magnaflows at the meet Saturday - I don't know about Bosals.
