02 P5 2.0 Intake Manifold Upgrade

I have been doing some research and found you can eliminate the VICS plate by upgrading to a 626 or mp3 manifold. I am confused though. Cant find any DIRECT info, but here is my question:

Which manifold would be to my best benefit? My 02 p5 is stock. When removing the VICS and or VTCS how would I make the computer not throw a code? Use a 626 or mp3 ecu? please help im very concerned I have not had a screw come loose yet but you can never be to safe. This car hauls my kids around...

if you leave your VICS and VTCS solenoids wired in but with no vacuum lines attached, you will not throw a code

ok so which manifold will be the best bang for the buck and will pretty much fit without having to buy alot of little odds and ends to make it fit.

cheapest method is to pull and modify the stocker. rip the VICS and VTCS out and plug the ports off. the 626 manifold on a car without turbo will net you gains on the top end and cost you some lower end grunt.

remove the bars too, then you would plug the holes where those slide in. keep in mind, for cold starts and for drivability's sake, the computer will have learn around the changes made and may stumble for the first few minutes of operation. i would search these forums for people's experiences before you make the jump to see, since this is a family hauler too, if the benefit is going to be worth the effort.

your prob right. Im thinking about taking the screws out and putting some red lock tight on them. Car just clicked over 100k. But the car is making that rattling noise when its cold outside, there is a TSB on the rattle and it tells you to the reprogram the ecm but my car is no longer covered under warrenty

Sorry for stealing your thread ...................... is it bad to remove the VICS? i hear a noice coming from my intake manifold and im guessing is a the VICS losing up.....it cant be the VTCS because i removed those a couple of months ago.........can i remove the VICS also??

I dont see why not, The 626 mani doesnt have them.

just asking because i read in some other thread that is not recommended to remove the VICS...just curiosity ......... before i remove my manifold again and check whats wrong with it

the newer computers are programmed to take advantage of VICS when the car fires up cold and is warming up. there can be rougher than normal cold starts without the VICS.
