02-03 P5 or 02-03 protege ES sedan?

deadstock

I think i got the mod bug
hello. right now im kinna arguing with myself whether to get a p5 or a protege ES sedan, but i really dont know if one has more advantages over the other. i was originally aiming for a sedan, but theres just something about the p5 that i really like too for a sport wagon. so, are there any major advantages in one model over the other? for the general info, i would most likely buy into a manual trans. thanks

i have a sedan and my buddy has a p5. either way ur gonna love it. to me the p5 has a little bit more body roll but easily taken care of with a strut tower bar kit. personally, i love mine. id go with the es

im only biased becuz i have an es... like i said my buddy has a p5 and he loves it, either way you'll like it. if you plan on stereo or anything the p5 has a little better set up for woofers and such

I've got both :-P. The P5 is my favorite - but I take the sedan to costco (The P5 has 4" chopped off the rear compared to the sedan)

Yeah, the wagon is a bit disappointing on space without the seat folded. With, however, it can hold a lot more than you'd think. The ES doesn't have the P5's sporty look, though.

thanks for the input guys. yeah i have heard about the audio setup in the p5 having an advantage over the es. i do like the fact that the sport wagon looks sportier than the sedan. im not really for quantity>quality, but here in vancouver b.c., there are way more p5's than i see ES', but i'm pretty sure im starting to lean towards a p5. some are cheaper than most ES' also

good job posting this in the p5 section of the forums hehe.

Does the sedan even get a stock strut tower bar? I didn't think they did...

I vote for p5. It doesn't look like 50% of the traffic on the road...

meh you can get a strut bar cheap

I don't have one and I don't miss it

besides, my car doesn't look like 50% of the cars on the road either

P5s are waaaaay cool.....but the sedan is lighter and stealthier.......

p5 looks better imo. It's also a bit more rare. All in all they pretty much the same car.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH..............AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......

That was good stuff, you got JOKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I count 5 on my block alone, I cant drive a block without seing 2 or 3 of them, they are the furthest thing from "rare".

Its 'Rare" Like an Echo is rare.

Its one of the reasons I cant stand the MP3 & 2003 MS Body kit (Its an eye sore to see it everywhere and Grandmas driving arround with it) The 2003.5 MSP kit is "Rare" (yeah I dont like the plane jane look of the stock Sedan, but the G or 2 one saves in the price diff can then be put twords, I dunno, a BC2 Kit, or a kit that you prefer. Or put that cash twords go fast parts...

______________

Moving on, its a to each his own thing, I like thhe P5, but I like the Sedan Better, and its a tad faster.

The rarity varies depending on where you live. here in central california there are few mazdas in general. most mazdas i see are the mpv van, the pickup, and the miata. I see like one protege5 a week and a few protege sedans a week. i see a fair amount of 6s around but hardly any 3s, never a 3 hatchback. nobody owns a toyota echo around here...they sell em, or used to, but nobody buys em.

If you get an ES you will have to do a conversion on the bumper to fit most of the body kits. From what I have scene there isnt too much options if you ever decide to put any body mods on the outside. There is plenty for the P5.
Just my opinion

thanks for the input. Actually, over here in Vancouver, there are a few mpv's here and there (i drive a mk1 btw), very few 6's, A LOT of 3's sedan or hatch, i would say the p5 over here isn't "rare" because i could catch a few everytime i'm out on the road...but i rarely see an ES, and everytime i see one, it's stock. I have thought about a msp, but it's just too hard to find here, so far, i must have seen 3 and i don't want to go through all that trouble having to wait and look for one to popup in the used cars section.

BTW just for general info...i'm actually more of a sedan kind of person, ever since i started looking for a new car, i've always looked for a sedan, and so far out of my choices, i chose the protege cuz i know mazda is pretty reliable, and there are just too many hondas that flood all the streets here. so i'm SORTA still up there with my decision cuz i like both models a lot by the replies here

I chose a P5...well cuz my wife has a Protege Sedan. Personally, I like the wagon style much much better. Is it true that the P5 has more body roll?
