0 - 60 times (boosted/non-boosted)

you mean race them in a straight line? check the sticky at the top of the thread about the flash, aka ECU flash

I know, My MSP is stock and yes it's hard to drive but you have to figure how to slip the clutch so you don't have that much wheelspin. I don't doubt that it could do 9.30-9.50 but i don't think it will do 0-60 in 5.5 sec.

You know blu by u a stock mustang runs 9.30 in the 1/8 mile and they run 5.7 0-60 am i right. i hope i can run 0-60 a 5.5 or even a 5.7. tell me what you think

Re: Well

I have an MP3 with i/h/e and my lowest 1/8 time was 10.5, thanks to GOTZOOM?

According to my Vericom my 0-60 times are in the high 5 to low 6 second range with a "HUGE" amount of wheel spin.
It is very hard to get it to hook up. I don't like to abuse my car so I didn't do it over and over just about 6 runs and after the wheel hop episode I said **** it. That wheel hop is ******* sad. I would love to find a way to greatly reduce this; that does not include new mounts.

Have you tried lowering your tire pressure a little?

Begin rant now... :D

The mounts make the biggest difference though. You can't beat them, trust me I think they are worth the vibration you get in the cab to get rid of the Protege's awfull wheel hop.

I went down to my local 1/8 mile track before the mounts and could not hook up at all, and I don't even have a turbo so I can't imagine what the MSP does. But since I have installed the mounts I went back to the track and I can't even begin to say how sweet the car hooked up. It was like I was driving a totally different car.

The first time I was stock and the second time I had added a header, exhaust, CAI...so I had more hp but hooked up better.

So I would say get the AWR motor mounts if you really want to get rid of the wheel hop.

Here is a group buy for them... http://www.msprotege.com/vbb225/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32874

...End rant :D

My car is bone stock no flash and best time 0-60 was 6.77 sec with a lot of wheelspin, It will take some practice but last night I did on my g-tech an out standing 6.47 sec with very little wheelspin, before I use to rev it up on take off to 3,500-2,500 and launch, but last night I did something deferent no rev up and just took off very little wheelspin and let off the gas on 2nd no wheelspin and the car was pulling very hard all the way... I'm so exited right now. I will do it again when flashed.

Motor mounts are worth the money and exatra vibrations.

I just read an interesting article in "turbo Magazine" about a Nissan SER and they went into a fairly lenthy description of the dangers of wheel hop. wheel hop will crack your transmition case if done to much. it is extremly hard on a car.

if you are going to drive hard, you should have new mounts.

Don't believe magazines they are way off in 0-60 and 1/4mile times for some vehicles like the MSP and SpecV. The best i've seen for stock SpecV 1/4mile times was 15.6 and we all know the SpecV (Stock) pulls a 15.2-15.3sec 1/4mile time with a good normal driver. I think same for the MSP, C&D tested the MSP in september and they got a 6.9sec 0-60 and 15.4sec 1/4mile time. I have seen Number's also from Motortrend 0-60..6.5sec 1/4mile..14.9sec, and if you average the two "you can just say the MSP pulls low to 15's flat. For an example lawerence took his car to the track and got a 14.92@92.85mph (Stock). I think you just have to know how to drive to pull a good 1/4mile time. ;)

2002 Spec V's have horrid 0-60 times, and ok 1/4 mile times...1st gear and 2nd are way to short (making the high torque car reach 52mph in 2nd) and 3rd gear is too long...the poor balance doesn't show up as much in time requiring the use of all 3 gears (like 1/4 times), but the 0-60 suffers big time...lots of wheel spin and 2 shifts...

2003 the gearbox recieved revised ratio's that are much more balanced and can shave as much as .3-4 secs off the 0-60, but another shift (into 4th) is now required for 1/4 mile times so they still end up around 15.1-3...

what about wheelhop...i hate it soooooo much, is there alot..and if there is how do i get rid of it, and how much will it cost?

Everybody hates it...It is more or less on every single MTX FWD production car...a $127 set of polyurethane engine mounts from AWR will cure it entirely for the most part, especially with the stock power...

FWIW don't not go with an MSP becuase of wheel hop...I have driven a Spec V, 1.8t, and MSP plenty of times and honestly the MSP has it the LEAST out of the 3 cars mentioned...plus the suspension is the only fully independent system out of these three, and it's handling definately shows....
