i started to hear a similar vibration a couple weeks ago. i took a look and saw that the damper was loose, but not apart. i took it off, checked the bushings and saw that the washer on the shaft had imbedded itself into the bushings, allowing for some play, which i assumed resulted in the...

ever since mine came apart, and i flipped it around the first time, it hasn't come apart and is immovable. if it moves around, it's not serving its purpose. there is a washer on the shaft that goes between the two bushings which hold it in place. no sliding should occur.

sorry, skimmed through the thread but didn't find a direct answer... would it be safer to go with a too stiff spring than a too soft spring? i don't have a boost gauge of any kind right now, so i can't measure it in anyway. i just want to make sure i'm not damaging anything with having this bpv in.

cliff notes: 1) remove plastic engine cover. 2) remove intercooler. 3) replace sparkplugs. 4) reinstall in reverse order.

so i opened my hood to find this torque damper pulled apart. from what i could tell, the internals were vibrated apart and the shaft holding the bushings got unscrewed. so i put it back together with some lock-tite. hopefully it won't happen again.

wow. that's a lot of work to get rid of the side moldings. i just grabbed one end and pulled them off.

is your mirror cracked?

did you fix your engine mount?

now that i look at it, i may want to flip the damper around, so i can get to the adjusting nuts easier...

so i installed it tonight. that sucked. i spent the majority of the time messing around with the engine mount itself, whether it was making sure that the engine was supported sufficiently, getting the nuts off (pretty much stripped the stock nuts), or if it was getting my hands in the crevice to...

appreciate the write-up - been looking for one for this etd. but if anything i'm more glad it generated the response below, as i had NO IDEA wtf the bushings were for: this makes way more sense than putting it on the engine mounts. i can't imagine those plastic "spacers" do much for supporting...
