DISI 2.3L inside of a MSP

I see nothing wrong with people wanting to put a different engine in their MSP. Let's face it, the FS is not the greatest engine out there. Sure, it's a simple task to toss forged rods and pistons in it, but then you've got a glass transmission that you're going to break. I think the MZR engine...

    Odd motor swap. Non-MSP related

I agree it would be a nightmare, but imagine the burnouts you could do with one tranny in drive and the other in reverse!

    Odd motor swap. Non-MSP related

Why are these your only two choices? With that giant engine bay you could fit any engine you wanted. How about a 5.4 liter BMW V12? Or an LS1? Obviously you want to do something unique, which I whole-heartedly applaud. If those are your two choices, I'd go with the RB26. The four-rotor would be...

    Need a good tuner shop

The Performance Driving School at BIR was by far the most fun I've had with my pants on. Well worth the $300. Just don't break your car.

    WTB: Mazdaspeed Shop Manual

The link for the PDF files that everyone uses are not a true shop manual. They provide basic parts breakdowns and part numbers, but they aren't the same as a real shop manual. The manual you can buy from the dealer for about $300 is far more comprehensive; it provides step-by-step instructions...

I might be interested if they can provide some hard numbers to back up their product.

    Oil cooler gasket not fitting!

I just figured out that the o-ring from my old Mobile 1 oil filter fits the oil cooler perfectly. Hopefully it holds up.

    Oil cooler gasket not fitting!

I'm trying to change out the oil cooler gasket on my MSP, but the new one I got from the dealer is too big! It doesn't fit at all! I even tried putting the old one back in, and it doesn't fit either! It's like the gasket for this thing was made wrong right from the beginning and they never tried...

Help! Having trouble diagnosing this one...

I just played with the wastegate flap, and I could definitely make it get stuck on the little ridge between it's seat and the housing wall. I think if I dremel off a little material there and make some clearance, I'll be in business!

Help! Having trouble diagnosing this one...

I actually blew my exhaust manifold gasket last Monday, and let me tell you, it kills power. But if it were blown, you'd know. You'd be able to see exhaust gases creeping out of the manifold at idle, and it would make some pretty stellar noise under load. That's an easy fix, too, the gasket is...

Tips for removing turbo assembly without breaking everything

Thanks for the tips, turbo came out pretty easily.

    New MSP parts?

Stout engine internals and a stronger tranny. The turbo assembly has decent potential as is, especially with a few bolt-ons, but without stronger internals you simply can't take advantage of the turbo.

    Need a good tuner shop

Hey, I just moved back home from SoCal and brought my MSP with me. I'm have some major turbo issues after a fun day at BIR, and I've hit a roadblock in diagnosing the problem. I'd like to enlist the help of a good tuner shop, but the problem is I don't know of anything in the area. Can anybody...

Help! Having trouble diagnosing this one...

Upon closer inspection of that hole, it's nothing more than the threads being machined too far into the casting. The hole doesn't actually go into the cartridge, just the threads for the oil return line. So still no real idea of what's wrong with this thing.
