Another sad end to a Mazda5 GT

I saw a couple of these threads near the top of the forum, figured I might as well add mine too. :( Car was a 2008 Mz5 Grand Touring, bought new off the lot for my wife when she was pregnant with our first kid. We are at three now. TBH, it was getting a bit cramped, but it was paid off! In...

Been tricky hosting with Google+ lately. Should be fixed now.

    My "follow-along" Mazda5 Suspension upgrade

Well that was short-lived. *sigh*. Never even got around to putting the front FSDs on there. Front suspension was going to be a spring project. What a waste of time and money. Totaled. No idea how the hell she managed to pull this off. 2008 Grand Touring, purchased brand new. New trans...

    Overheating troubleshooting

2008 Mazda5. Est. 90K miles or so. Wife called today that the temp gauge was "all the way to H". Mostly stayed "in the middle" during the 45 minute drive. When accelerating, creeps up toward the H. When slowing down, it cools down, or when maintaining speed. Checked the overflow, it's at...

How long should it take to replace front struts/bearings?

OK I'll keep an eye out there. Thankfully they won't affect alignment.

How long should it take to replace front struts/bearings?

I have the rear work done on my '08 Mz5, and wanted to get the rear aligned but found the front and rear has to be done together. $80-$90 for a 4-wheel alignment, $70-$80 for just a 2-wheel alignment. I haven't replaced my front struts yet or checked up there for looseness in anything, so it...

Haha no not a Honda forum. General automotive. Smart guys generally, not sure what their issue is.

    My "follow-along" Mazda5 Suspension upgrade

It was further explained that the large collar is right-hand-threaded and the outer bushing is left-hand-threaded, so that when the adjusting nut is turned, both are adjusted evenly. Now it all makes sense to me. As for being failure-prone, it was a couple nay-sayers on another automotive...

    My "follow-along" Mazda5 Suspension upgrade

I see how they are put together, with the larger nut moving a sleeve in/out of the arm, and the smaller nut being a locknut for the outer bushing. Great diagram! I guess my confusion stemmed from the term "outer bushing", which makes sense now. Which also means I need to unhook the camber arm...

I did see that thread, thank you! I am beginning to think the dots are just to identify the springs.

    My "follow-along" Mazda5 Suspension upgrade

I believe I leave the stock lower spring cups in place. At least that is how I am proceeding. I guess if I am wrong I will have to go back. The 2012+ springs have an orange and purple dot. Does it matter which way is up with these? I don't think it does but want to make sure. Again, I'll...

    My "follow-along" Mazda5 Suspension upgrade

Also now that I'm looking at this, the spring seat I purchased is an upper spring seat. Was I supposed to replace the plastic-y lower spring seat too or does that remain?

These directions are confusing me. http://www.spcalignment.com/instructions/67420-INS_WEB.pdf 1. Always check for loose or worn parts, tire pressure and tire wear. 2. Raise vehicle directly under rear coil springs so suspension is loaded and support with safety stands. Remove rear wheel...

    My "follow-along" Mazda5 Suspension upgrade

No HOA! Just been so busy lately. Yes it's just been sitting there. :) Those damn pins I had all cleaned up surface rusted over before I got a chance to paint them. :( Found the FSM, I'll take a look at that and let it put me to sleep. :D Then I have to find the proper spec to set the camber...

No sticky grease came with these unfortunately. I remember it from a few years ago doing the bushings on my Firebird; I may have some packets left over from that. I got the pins tonight, I'll hit the bushings up tomorrow.
