    Dislikes about your MAZDA 5

A longer seat cushion and adjustable thigh support (i.e. front seat tilt) for the front seats! PLEASE - for Goodness sake Mazda! These seats kill me after about 90 minutes.

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

32.5 mpg/7.2 L/100km on a trip yesterday from Greenville SC to Durham NC. One of the best figures I've obtained....70mph constant on I85 and it probably didn't hurt there's a pretty good elevation drop on that trip and temps around 60F/15C meant I didn't have to use a/c and windows closed and...

    Missing battery cover

Lol... I open 'er up at least once a week or so. It just never occurred to me that the battery cover was missing! You just expect the battery to be there and well, it was! Never noticed the cover was gone at some point.

    Missing battery cover

I opened the hood of my '07 the other day to check the coolant level and type (whether or not it was FL22...) when I noticed something.... The flimsy black plastic cover for the battery was missing. I have no idea how/when/where it went. It could've been missing for a year for all I know. I do...

Thanks for the coronary, Mazda Credit!

Dunno know if any one else had this issue this week, but Ford/Mazda credit sent out false e-mails to a lot of customers who had financed their cars through them. It said "hey, loser....your payment is late!" I nearly had a heart attack since I have automatic payment set up on my account. The...

    Mazda 5 front seat comfort

I keep wishing the 5 had a driver's seat tilt adjustment, or at least an extra inch of so of seat bottom length. I'm always finding that I want more support under my thighs toward my knees. It gets uncomfortable after a while....

    Ignition key release button/switch mod

My '07 Touring (manual trans) has the push button key release. As someone stated above, it's placement is such that you can easily press it as you turn the car off and remove the key in one fluid hand motion. I don't even think about it... until now, obviously....

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

30.4mpg on straight, flat highways between Raleigh and Greenville, NC. Running at about a constant 72mph on cruise in light traffic. I think that's my best for the five speed manual I've got. I'm usually around 24-26 in town, and 28 on this same highway.

3rd row seat won't fold down?

Have you checked to make sure the second seat is scooted forward a notch or two? I can't fold mine down when the rear seat is at the rearmost position and/or is slightly reclined....

    HVAC Controls

I think Mazdadude is correct. What is being described here is most likely a Sport model with what I think was called the Popular (or maybe Preferred?) Equipment package. I remember looking for either one of those or a Touring with manual trans when I got mine back in '07. I ended up finding a...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Yesterday, technically. I went through the hell of changing the cabin air filter and totally understood why the dealer charges over $100US for the job. What an ordeal!

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else....

I ended up taking the car to the alloy wheel repair shop the dealer parts guy recommended. Other than the fact he looked like he was maybe 18, the wheel came out fine. He looked at it, told me it was no problem and that he usually sees much worse. Then he jacked the car up and took the wheel...

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else....

I had to make several inquiries. First to the City. They told me the stretch of road was state DOT. So, I called them. I was asked for information on what happened, where and when. Shortly afterward a legal rep contacted me and told me pretty much that the road was marked as being under...

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else....

I did check CR. Prices for a used wheel ranged from $140-200+ The alloy wheel repair company came recommended by a nice fella at the Mazda dealership. I guess he heard me stop breathing and nearly fall out when they quoted me for the new rim. I figured I give the wheel repair a try when they...

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else....

Traveling down a road a few weeks ago, I encountered a section that was undergoing repairs. The road crews had stripped the top layer of asphalt from the roadway in anticipation of putting down a new layer. It was twilight and I didn't see the manhole cover jutting up 3" or so above the rest of...

    2012 Mazda5

I've seen two 2012's now. One, out in the real world, was white. The other, at the local auto show last weekend, was the silver-blue similar to cd's above. Both shades seemed to minimize the "Nagare waves" but I'm still not a fan. Would it be too much to hope that by 2013 they return to a...

    Goodbye Mazda family.....

Chitown's right about the mileage on the F150. We've also got a 2010 F150 FX2 Super Cab w/ 4.6L V8 and six speed auto. It too was rated at 15/21. I'm in eastern NC (very flat...) and it barely cracks 20.5 mpg on level highways at 65mph. Its easy to get 13 or so in suburban driving. Also, don't...

    What's your Mazda 5 nicknamed?

    "The Aubergine Machine"

just bought a brand new Sport 5MT.

In my state (N.C) the 5 is considered a 'wagon' and is in one of the lowest insurance rate brackets. Hope you're similarly lucky....
