Real World MPG, and what is a good lease deal.

real usage for me on the 3S GT with Tech package (so with the i-eloop capacitor): most of the time 28MPG. That's a mix of really short city trips (less than 2 miles), and some mix city/highway, with usually some time in traffic jam. Without the highway miles I would be in 22-24MPG I think. Pure...

    Transmission Lurches When Downshifting

A little old doc from Mazda, but explains the transmission (and engines, frame...) extremely well. http://altairenlighten.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Mazda-Skyactive-lightweight.pdf Read it, it's cool. (Transmission starts around page 41)

    Infotainment System Bugs

Email: I've 727 contacts. I had maybe 30-40 suggested contacts: I deleted them. But I have plenty of email accounts on my phone (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, a second exchange server). I'll see if there's an option to sync only some, but so far no luck. So total I might be over 1000, but I doubt I...

    Infotainment System Bugs

I've the same issue. Changing mph to km/h back and forth doesn't seem to fix it. It's somewhat annoying to see the graph with the past so many minutes averages being meaningless. (the conversion is not something most of us will do in their mind).

Replacement tires for 2.5L/18 inch wheels

The #2 seems cool. Takes care of the main problem with ABS-detection

    Infotainment System Bugs

I was wondering how to adjust as it didn't get the proper daylight saving :-)

Replacement tires for 2.5L/18 inch wheels

I cannot find the source I used for the TPM system using ABS, but that was some Mazda doc somewhere describing the system. (maybe in the instruction manual). It will mention somewhere that with snow chains, one needs to recalibrate the system. Only ABS-based TPM will need that, as they are based...

    interchangable part?

From the description of the i-Active design and manufacturing philosophy, the same design is used in wider/shorter, longer/shorter cars/suv. The cost reduction comes mostly from having one design, kind of one platform, but one they can scale based on the vehicle they make. That's interesting...

Anyone knows how to update the music database or the system SW?

Music DB: There is a mention of using a USB stick for that, but I wonder if anyone did it? http://infotainment.mazdahandsfree.com/howto-manageupdates kind of related to it with these steps http://infotainment.mazdahandsfree.com/files/Mazda_GracenoteUpdateProcess.pdf but the problems I have...

Replacement tires for 2.5L/18 inch wheels

So what will be the dimensions of the tires to keep the wheels the same diameter? (else the odometer will be off: showing more miles than you really drive if the diameter is smaller). I'm a little surprised as usually folks go for -1 diameter +1 size thickness. Going -2 is size, are you not...

Shark Fin Antenna for 2014 Mazda3 Sedan

Why adding a fake one? Is the look worth the money for the fake antenna + the extra drag you will get? (i.e. lower mileage).

What did you pay for your Mazda3 w/ Taxes and Fees?

Invoice + $250 minus $250 auto show rebate (that was a the dealership, I've not been to that auto show). s GT with Tech. (early Tech: no radar cruise control...)

    Infotainment System Bugs

Today's bug: I started the car and the infotainment screen did not turn on. Nothing could get it on. I turned the car off, waited 30 seconds, turned it on again and it started, very dimmed (as if the lights were on) with the Mazda logo, then rebooted itself another time it seems (black screen...

:D Fully agree. Fuel efficiency goes through the window when the fun starts.

    Gas requirement

A dyno will not care about the weight of the car, nor its aerodynamics. it's put the car on the big rolling apparatus, floor it, wait. So you get what the engine can deliver to the wheels, regardless of anything else. The transmission might be different in term of programming and even ratios...

    Connecting to WiFi?

correct: traffic comes over HD radio. You need good signal as it gets the images one square/rectangle at a time. i.e. I had some situation where the part of the map I cared about was not visible (gray). It's not clear how much is integrated with the nav system, as nav can do some detour in case...
