    Switching from Android to Apple

If you added Android Auto using the OEM Retrofit kit, it has the capability to support both AA and Apple CarPlay. So all you'd need to do is plug in your phone and it would recognize the Apple device and open CarPlay (no need to remove AA or switch anything). If you added an aftermarket system...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

There's a minor improvement in taking turns with the slightly wider base. Not noticeable unless you're really paying attention.

Massive oil leak on passenger side from under-shield, smoking from engine bay

There are two separate cylinder head cracking issues. The one for the 2.5T involves a cylinder head crack near the exhaust manifold, and usually results in an external coolant leak. The one for the 2.5 N/A with CD is also a cylinder head crack, but it results in an external oil leak. The...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Lol that was the original. This one isn't lowered.. yet.. We'll see what the future holds! Might do springs again, or I might try coilovers. There's a set of Ceikas in the Buy/Sell right now but I can't spend much until after an upcoming vacation.

    2016~2023 CX-9 Maintenance Items @ 40k miles

Mazda's SG1 Hypoid Gear Oil is a 75w-85 GL-4 fluid. If you want to use something different, I'd recommend at least matching that spec. I personally only have experience using the SG1 with a manual fluid pump. Due to the location of the fill plugs, you might need to use an extension hose with...

Seat Belt Warning Light & Chirp - Troublshooting

My wife once spilled coffee into her lap and it got into the seatbelt buckle. She cleaned up the outside but left the inside alone, and didn't tell me about it for a few days. It got sticky and sometimes took a few tries to get it to latch. To clean it, I first sprayed a bit of electrical...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

It's both actually, lol. Finding 5x114.3 spacers (not adapters) with 67.1mm hubs at an affordable price is harder than I thought it would be, even second-hand. I finally found a set of used Titan wheel spacers for a good price, so I decided to jump on them. They are 1.25" thick (31.75mm). Paired...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Installed wheel spacers and universal mudflaps. The wheels are just a few mms more aggressive than I'd want ideally, but I'm still happy with the look. We had a bit of rain last night, and after driving to work and through the tractor yard, it appears that the mudflaps are doing their job well...

    Mike's 2022 CX-9 Kuro Edition

Back in 2021, I bought a set of "universal" RallyArmor mudflaps for my other CX-9, but never ended up installing them, and they just collected dust in storage. My current 2022 didn't come with mudflaps, so I decided to install them this weekend, along with a set of wheel spacers. The car looks a...

Dashboard displays 2 malfunctions in cold weather

You can ask them to check for the issue during your oil change. They should check their service database for this concern, and if there is an existing TSB for it, they will follow the diagnostic steps to continue troubleshooting. In my case, I do get this warning occasionally, but it usually...

Sluggish frequent pedal/throttle response. Need suggestions

Fuel injectors might be something to consider as well, though it's unlikely that they would need to be replaced or serviced if you've always used "top tier" fuel. Additionally if the fuel injectors were operating out of spec, they would probably throw codes.

Sluggish frequent pedal/throttle response. Need suggestions

It would do the trick, but it's really no different than pressing the pedal further as you accelerate. Having owned a Sprint Booster for nearly 7 years, I do prefer to have it installed vs. "stock", but if you can get used to pressing the pedal further, it's the same thing. A tune might be a...

    2017~2025 CX-5 Rear Differential Failure

Just a note, for your CX-5, the recommended rear diff oil should be Mazda Hypoid Gear Oil SG1 - SAE 75W-85, API GL-4. Part number 0000-77-SG1-QT. I believe they changed the spec back in 2016. You can confirm in your owner's manual.
