Which seller was it if you don’t mind my asking?

    Transmission mount replacement question/issue

Wasn’t looking for a critique of buying aftermarket parts. All videos or walkthroughs I’ve found on replacing that mount have I guess been from installs where that part wasn’t included new with the mount and the rubber piece was reused. It just happens that mine is missing that little rubber...

    Transmission mount replacement question/issue

I’m in the middle of replacing my mounts to try and eliminate some idle vibration. Did the rear today, and I’m in the middle of the transmission mount. I did the right side one a year or two ago when it broke. I just got the mount out and it’s cracked all to hell. My issue is there’s a little...

    Aftermarket thermostat

If the 5 is anything like the 3 I’d go with the OEM thermostat. On those models the original thermostats frequently failed. Mazda introduced a newer model that was better made, but at twice the cost of all the aftermarket options. The aftermarket options tended to fail frequently. Swapped...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Absolutely. I was really irked that 1) he didn’t know better, 2) then didn’t understand why he couldn’t just charge for it anyway. normal black valve caps with rubber valve stems. Definitely not metal valve stems to an internal TPMS module. The rebuild kit they use doesn’t replace the entire...

    Spongy brakes, bleeding doesn't work (2013 Mazda5)

Having some of the same issue myself. Pads have a bit more life than the 2mm you described on yours. I noted the brakes worked but felt weak. Bled all four and lubed the slider pins…… then apparently didn’t get one of the bleeder valves all the way tight because it pissed away most of the new...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

My ‘19 accord has the same system using the wheel speed sensors. I happened to take it to a tire shop to get a big bolt out of the tire and get it patched. Guy ringing me up is chatting with me as I’m swiping my card, then I see the breakdown of the price…. Including a TPMS rebuild kit for...

    Brakes, bleeding gone wrong, questions

Howdy. I replaced the front/rear brake pads/rotors about four years/40k miles ago. I don’t regularly drive the car (au pair drives it), but the last time I hopped in the brakes felt a lot softer than they should and required more pedal travel. I was doing brake bleeding on my new car the...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Lots of people do conversions to EV on non-EV chassis. Usually from buying all the components from a totalled EV and modifying something else. Sure it’s a bit of a niche. Just like there are people who will rebuild motors, install turbos or superchargers. They could go buy a car that has...

    Loose brake pads 2010 Mazda5

After Installing the new pads did you ratchet the piston back into position? You have to pull the parking brake a bunch of times to undo the twist compressed piston….. like 10-20 times. If you don’t do that the pads don’t end up in the right place and can clatter around.

Also interested in the smart turn mod. Any comments on where you got it, how much it cost, and what the install involved?

    Suspension changes from 2006 to 2007 Mazda5?

No significant suspension changes from ‘06 to ‘07. There were some changes from the 1st gen to the 2nd gen, with the ‘12 models getting beefier rear springs. 1st gen struts fit on the 2nd gen (I discovered this when after installing one new strut, and damaging the hanger on one of them during...

    I sprung a leak!

Almost certainly the mount. Have some one rev It while you watch the motor and you should see it rock a little. Wouldn’t be surprised to get some clunk if it completely fails.

TCS/DSC and ABS light on but no codes

Glad you got it sorted out. I was going to ask if you’d pulled the knuckles off of the axle recently. I loosened mine when I did my front struts to get a little more give to wrestle the strut off, and didn’t get the knuckle 100% back on the spline. Threw the same codes which went in and out...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Correct the 2.5 dropped the two belts with the stretch fit AC belt, and tensioner pulley. I’d read about people using zip ties, but since I wasn’t planning on doing that I didn’t read too much into it. I didn’t look at holes/slots for the crank pulley since I was just using the bottom anchor...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Okay, I lied. Went ahead and did the RSB bushings, and end links. You could sneeze and rotate the original end links. Feels amazingly better now, and the front end is still riding on worn out end links, and a broken strut mount. Does anyone have any tips on reinstalling the sway bar brackets...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Serpentine belt today at 104k miles. Original was severely cracked. Looked at a bunch of instructions and videos, all of which suggested using a little plastic wedge tool to get the belt to stretch into place because the ‘12 model doesn’t have a tensioner pulley like the 1st gen models. Then...
