I had some rust behind the Protege5 badge on the back. A rule for them is the rust has to come through the paint, or in my case that's way they told me. So allitle poke with a needle solved the problem and I got the warranty work done. But the work quality was poor at best. (protest)
Well, I would
A) Soak the living *bleep* out of the bolts with alot of pb blaster.
or
B) Cut the stock system, bring it to a muffler shop, and have them weld the new to the old. It normally is fairly inexpensive.
Same exact problem. The Driver side rear disk locked up on me. I pushed the pads apart and sprayed some WD-40 on the situation. I hope it works. But I really want to know whats going on too.
Personally, I would just buy OEM Mazda bulbs. Had to replace one a few years ago and never a problem. They seem to be bright enough and are reasonably priced.

I've had a K&N filter in my P5 for about 35k miles now and no problems. I really couldn't notice any performance gains, I just like it because its reusable.
I put my ol' man's shift knob from a mazda 3, (which is fairly heavier) and it seemed to improve the smoothness of shifting. Just something to think about
