Advantages of shorter springs / pre-load

Im not sure who makes a 6.5" long spring, but if thats the case of what you have, get a 7" long spring. This one is pretty easy, if you cant get the ride height you want, get a longer spring or raise the spring collar to a new height. What spring rates are you using anyway? Most miatae use...

Advantages of shorter springs / pre-load

If you are compressing the spring, I am assuming you are going for more ride hight. If this is the case get some longer 8" springs. Going to 6" springs(you have 7" springs now correct?) would make the issue worse. Gavin

Advantages of shorter springs / pre-load

Are you adjusting the collars with the car on the ground? Are you adjusting the collars upwards or down? 1: pre-load is a buzzword. Dont even bother with it. 2:Mainly spring length is a combination of weight of spring, spring rate, weight of the car, coil bind and....something else Im...

    Eibach ERS Springs

If 7" springs will work I may have a set of 450s in the basement. Aside from that, ground-control. Thats where I buy all my springs. It also doesnt hurt that they are within a realistic driving distance if I need something *today*, If you know what I mean. They do have zero rate helpers and...

    STX Build Thread

Actually the rule wasnt so much to enforce safe mounting of seats, It was a way to not punish/penalize those who did mount their seats in a safe and secure manner. Its a slight shift in perspective, but I think it becomes a lot clearer as to the direction the writers of this rule took. The...

    New Mazdaspeed LMP2 Car

Thats a pretty mellow output for sportscars actually. Back in the early 90s the last generation of Gurney eagles in imsa GTP made @900hp with turbocharged toyotas I4. Theres reasons for this though, todays cars have better aero but dont have the tremendous downforce the old GTP cars could make...

    New Mazdaspeed LMP2 Car

Doubtful that the older car will be used(maybe as a backup) The courage C65 was a 3yr old(used) chassis. It was old, slow and heavy. The engine development on the 3 rotor just wasnt there really. The new chassis will be a major step forward. Racing is nothing but marketing showcase for the...

    Street Prepared build

Perhaps Individual throttle bodies in the future? I am going through this now with a hybridized sheet metal intake manifold for the DSP car. It will be lighter and less complex than the stock item. It is a very expensive bit of weight savings though as mine will require full engine...

    New Hoosier A6 275/35-15 !!!!

From this tread.. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123656969 Ive decided to do a bit of math on this as Moxnix's suggestion is very very interesting. With the previous selection of tires and the lessons you learn that shifting is bad, this was an unacceptable option....but now...

    Fender Flares???

dmitrik4... No worries. Im an absurdist at heart so I didnt take anything you said as a jab at my car. I fully understand its irrelevancy in the grand scheme of things. As for Hoosier, I have a thought on why things happened. Timing, competition and market share. After a couple fumbles with...

    Fender Flares???

well its gone in this direction anyway.... apologies to Justin. Another thought that I have been mulling over as well. 3rd gear isnt as poochy as in some other cars, and with an (over)abundance of torque down low, its a real possibility. At some point though, Ill have to make my decision as to...

    Fender Flares???

Understood about the sizing of the tires, but your assumption is that all FWD cars can benefit from shorter tires than stock. This is why I sided with the Subaru folks. Their cars are somewhat heavy (which makes them an ideal candidate for wider tires), Fairly torquey(can spin big tires)...

    Fender Flares???

I think that youll find that you may need to up your spring rates again, But I might be wrong. If I recall, Will Kalman was using 450/450 when he was still in STS. However, sometimes people who have skill can run seemingly unpossible setups, so take that as you may. By the way, (unless there...

    Fender Flares???

Hmm, Ill have to have a talk with my ninja assassins, er....I mean "Information Security Officers". Security is vital you see. Tires are currently 245/45/16 S05s on 16x9 CCWs. Yes, the flares are less curved than the cars natural fender arch. Both front and rear have a less pronounced curve...

    Fender Flares???

Hmm. http://www.teamunemployment.com/gavin/fender%20flares/ http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7BSA02/50-1562 Theres an addage in the theatre biz that warns nervous actors to not sneak a peek out of the curtains to see the audience...."If you can see them, then they can see you". Ive...
