Be aware that putting an aftermarket stereo in a Mazda3 requires a dash kit since the stock stereo is not a standard DIN or Double DIN. The downside of this is that it is extremely obvious that there is an aftermarket stereo installed. This makes the car a good target for break ins. College...

Question on stock bose HU + aftermarket sub/amp setup

Can you take the signal from the speakers or direct from the HU and not use the factory sub output?

    Crackle from front speakers?

If it is only when you hit a bump, then something is loose. If it is from both speakers, check the connection at the amp or HU. If it is only one speaker, it could also be the connection at that speaker too.

    polk momo 6.5

Yes, you need an adapter. Some 6.5" components include them. Pioneer and Alpine components, for example, include a 5x7/6x8 adapter to fit the 6.5" woofer. However, you should check the mounting depth, or check Crutchfield. Also, check whether the Polk's have the needed adapter, or you'll have...

08 Speed3 Sport... I want BOSE, please help.

Yes they do. If you are after Alpine Type R components, they have a 5x7/6x8 adapter for the 6.5" mid bass. I almost bought these speakers, but went with Pioneer Series D components instead, which also have an adapter to fit the 5x7/6x8 opening. The Pioneer adapter works fine, and I suspect the...

08 Speed3 Sport... I want BOSE, please help.

Honestly, IMHO, since adding the BOSE amp and sub would require the same effort as adding aftermarket, but without the good aftermarket sound, I wouldn't bother with it. I would just add (replace) the speakers. That's easy to do and doesn't require all the amp wiring (running power through the...

    2004 3i CD Player

I think starting with the 2007's they played MP3 CDs. I have a 2008.5 and it plays them. You may be able to swap out the player for one that does, but I'm not 100% sure of compatibility. Have a read here for someone that did it on a 2006. http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22650...

    Kicker 6.5" sub

Just get one of the small enclosure 8" subs. There are several that work with about .25 cubic feet. Put it in a corner in your trunk and secure with Velcro. When you need to use all the trunk space, unplug it and pull it out. That size sub box is very light and easy to remove. This is what I...

Fixing your MAZDASPEED3 BOSE Sound System

For $100, are you looking to buy the whole sub, with enclosure, for a plug and play type of install? That might be tough. If you can build your own box, you can pick up a 8"-10" sub pretty cheap (example: I recently got two 8" Rockford Fosgate entry level subs for $80 from Crutchfield)...

2010 Mazda 3 iSport - Rear Deck 8in Sub Install

Looks nice and clean. I like that sub too. I almost bought it for my install. Last weekend, I added an 8" sub to my 2008 3. Mine is in a .26cu ft box. It does take up truck room (though very little). I am really pleased with what it adds to the low end. I think in the past I remember reading...

    Wiring question

cigarette lighter has a 15Amp fuse. If your install, plus other devices plugged into the cigarette lighter, won't use more than 15 amps, you should be safe. I would add a safety margin, maybe assume a max of 10 amps. Alternatively, use the cigarette lighter to power a relay box somewhere and...
