Kicker 6.5" sub

The sub is not recommended for installation in a vented box so I imagine it won't perform very well in an open door. From my experience, subwoofers in doors simply don't work. Stick to installing subs in the trunk/hatch.

Thanks! If I really don't want to compromise my trunk space, I think I will just get one of those small enclosed, powered subs that fits under the seat. I don't really need the base of a 10 or 12" in the trunk.

Do you have a sedan? You could put these in the rear deck, and build an enclosure on the underside of the deck. I suppose of your going to do that then an 8" would be better.

Just get one of the small enclosure 8" subs.

There are several that work with about .25 cubic feet. Put it in a corner in your trunk and secure with Velcro. When you need to use all the trunk space, unplug it and pull it out. That size sub box is very light and easy to remove.

This is what I did. I have a cheaper Rockford Fosgate P1 8". There are higher quality ones too, if you want better.
