hesitation fixed.

MSP
I put in my new spark plugs today and hesitation went away. I dont know much about plugs so here is a pic of them. I think they look fairly normal. they are greyish. they appear a tad darker in the pic than they really are.

Even though the hesitation is gone i still have a problem with acceleration in first gear. If i take off from a stop light at around 3k and then push to the floor my car doesnt seem to wanna go.. There is no power and then my turbo kicks in and my rpms shoot from 5k to 7k in a snap. All the rest of the gears are normal. Just first gear. Any ideas? oh, and this happened with the old plugs too.

flashed right?

Ive noticed a similar thing, the car doesnt excell under WOT. YOu have to baby into it and hit it just right.

pedal to the floor in the car = open loop = buried in fuel and the car is crap. Lift up about 1/8-1/4 of an inch and never truly floor the car. It will always pull harder at that amount of throttle. Just my .02

yes, the WOT issue has been discussed several times. Our MSP ECU is fucky, in all sorts of way. There are engine management things available, and being made available, I'm gonna get one, and fix all the FUCKY MSP issues...lol

I agree. The car fells faster at 90% throtttle than WOT. Or squeezing the pedal as opposed to flooring it. (dunno)

Actually i dont have the pedal all the way to the floor. I shouldnt have said floored. I do have it close though. To give an example.... yesterday i took off from a stoplight. After going about twenty feet i decided to get on it.. My car just slowly acclerated then as soon as boost kicked in......My car took off like a 200 shot of nitrous just went off.

ooo bosch platinum 2 is not a good idea if your gonna run higher than stock boost. be careful about pre-ignition.

Pics show the result of a rich mixture. Typical of the Mazdaspeed. Fresh plugs can be an amazing thing sometimes. Our stock ones are about $16 a plug. ouch!

My bad...I was thinking rich, but typed lean. Its better to be rich than lean. And yeah the MSP would benifit from a little less excess!

Ever since I got the DP and exhaust back, I don't have that problem anymore. I go WOT and it goes the entire way through the gears.

MY car didn't have a problem at WOT ever until a week ago, i got an oil change early and it was fine. I put in a boost controller today, and noticed my boost will jump up to 9 and drop back to 7, but i learned how to use the pedal to keep it around 8, and u can't hit it hard at all. Just my 2 cent, some of it is a little off subject, i'm just excited about MBC
