Well,
The Tranny was opened up, and the lockout was broken again.
Reverse has some excessive grinding, due to hitting reverse while the car was going forward, at a high rate of speed.
1st and 2nd looked good. Just reverse, and the lockout. I looked at the piece, it's a tiny little piece of metal (pic attached). I have to talk to the regional manager, they may and try to get me to sign a release, of which I wont. The metal for the lockout looks like it has a high carbon content, making it harder, but possibly to hard, and more brittle. there are no signs of where anywhere else on it to show that it was being forced (no dents where the actual shifter come in contact with it, no signs of wear..)
I will find out monday.
Sorry about pics size, was to lazy to resize.
1st is lockout attached to magnet
2nd are the gates where the shifter runs through, and where the lockout goes to and broke from (where the spring is).
3rd are my gears.. Reverse are the only ones that are straight. Then the order from left to right are 1st, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd (they are the agled gears). The gear on it's own on the left is the intermediary gear for reverse, and on the top part are the other set of gears (forget the order.)
4th, pic of reverse straight on (it's the straight gear). This one is damaged because of accidental slipage @ high speeds, because lockout is broken.
Edit " I added a 5th pic of the gates and the lock out!"
So this time 1st, 2nd, and the synchro's and forks are all good, just the reverse gear and lockout.. I will get better pics of the lockout/fork tomorrow.
I even paid a guy from mister transmission to come and look @ it, he says he has no idea how it broke, but it was a crappy piece, and that mazda may have some issues.
I am gonna take it with me to school too, to look @ it with a microscope, and talk to a metalurgist.
I love it when I have really big guns in my pocket, but potentially Mazda can still give me the big (fu) .
I love this car, except for all this s***. But if I need to, I will just find a tranny from an MP3, or Speed, and put it in, cause I want to keep this car. I have a grand am with a V6 rental, and the only nice thing about it is, that a V6 has nice pickup, and it has variable intermittent wipers. The P5 is one of the most connected to the road cars I have driven, and I have driven a afair share of cars.
Well, off to live life, and see what happens, good thing it's only money, and not my health (which I was letting it get to me, but no more..)
Man does the smell of tranny fluid make you sick..
