Well, the much-anticipated new facility is up and running and I went there with a mate for Saturday qualifying of the Summernationals.
Spent the arvo and early evening there.
Awesome! Huge credit to all those involved with getting it to happen, an absolutely fantastic venue, very spectator friendly.
Special occasion: these numbers will not impress our American friends too much since there are so few Top Fuelers here but yesterday I saw my first sidec by side 4 second pass, both cars and top qualifier ran a 4.81 @ 309 mph. The next was 4.82 @ 307 mph, third 4.91 @ 301 mph.
Remembering that it was over 35 deg C (95 degrees F) yesterday......
Three successive side by sides and a solo run with every body "on it" was great with only the 7 Top Fuelers running was awesome. Some terrific other action too, loved it, will be back!!
Flying tyres, flaming nitro exhausts, babes aplenty, great atmosphere, great and clear video screens yada yada. All good.
