This past Friday, I was about 45 miles from home when I noticed a smell of coolant coming from my wife's CX-9. I popped the hood and there was a crack/split/cut in the upper radiator hose. Not sure how or when it happened, but there was evidence of coolant in the engine bay. Luckily, I caught it before the hose fully split, the overflow bottle was just under the minimum line. Now came the fun part, there is no aftermarket part number available for this hose, or any radiator hose, for this generation of CX-9.
I was lucky enough to be able to root around in the hose section of my local AutoZone and found a hose that is almost exactly the correct hose. In case anyone else in a pinch and needs an upper radiator hose, the hose I found to work is a Continental Hose, Part number 61144. According to the Continental website and RockAuto, it is for a couple of Chrysler models and is stocked a most Autozone locations. Autozone will not search the Continental Part number, but here is the Rock Auto link:
