What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Washing the car.

Every several days, certainly within the week, since salt/brine has been laid down on the major streets. And whenever the weather turns a bit better for a day or two, it's a full wash with de-salting treatment (StarBrite's Salt Off). Nicely, the undercarriage has a decent Line-X treatment, so very little goes "ugly" under there, even with occasional driving along salted roads.

Won't keep every last bit of residue off the rig, but it sure helps.

Have always been glad I don't have to put up with that kind of crap. It truly makes a car a "consumable" item. There's got to be a better way!

I live where they apply chemicals to the roads with winter weather. So far I haven't had any major rust issues with my vehicles. Some don't show that much rust at all. What I do is when things break, I spray down the car with water from a garden hose; especially the undercarriage and wheel wells. That's the minimum I do if I'm not able to do a full car wash.

Just got back from the dealer where they installed the Mazda auto dimming/Homelink rear view mirror and tow hitch. The tow hitch required cutting of the black plastic lower valence of the rear bumper. From a distance, doesn't seem too bad. Up close, not so sure. When I have more time, I might get up under the car to look at the cut out and see if there is anything I can do to clean up the edges of the cut plastic.

This is a common problem when you let "someone else" do the install. Common solution is to get a piece of door edge molding and install it over the rough cut edge.

They didn’t add something like a piece of trim over the cut plastic? Thought they’d do something like a thin u-channel strip of black plastic or something to hide the toolmarks on the bumper.

Upgraded stock non Bose speakers to Infinity Reference component speakers in the front with door deadening mat. Huge improvement in sound.

Installed:

VIOFO A229 plus to ‘25 CX5 Premium Plus
Had no luck getting the power using the VIOFO hardwire kit, so ordered a DONGAR 10-A adapter and installed to the back of the rear view mirror…so simple and works great for those of us that won’t use parking mode

Car came with low wall all weather mats which lacked coverage, upgraded to
3DMAXspider Kanu front and back, much nicer coverage and look

Order OEM truck liner, not a fan of the 4 pieces , wish I ordered the 3DMAXspider for the trunk. My bad

Tymate wireless TPMS

American flag license plate frame

Waiting for temps to increase before installing:
WeatherTech bumper topper
Lower front mesh grill
Door sill protectors
Fortin One car starter

Just to be clear, they still collect data without the app.

It's just that the app expands on the kinds of data.

That may be the case but they can use their cell data and not mine. We are on a metered data plan and in less than a week they used our entire allotment for the month. We deleted the app immediately.

That's a whole lot of 1's and 0's transmitting back n forth 😮
