What have you done to your Miata today?

Been playing the VirtualDyno and working on my spark map and fuel map a little bit. Going to revisit EBC as well. I need to smooth out power delivery and/or figure out why I'm getting weird electrical issues under high boost (EBC diode methinks!) to get a good-looking VirtualDyno plot, but I did hit 208whp, which isn't too shabby.

Test drive went well. I have little of the gas smell remaining under boost and throttle response seems better as well. I went out and did some autotuning this evening, I went back to a previous save point when I last had these injectors installed (so I will lose some but better to run it with the injectors now installed). Now I just have to drive it as much as possible over the next few days and get some more tuning done.

Swapped back to the MSM front sway this morning. Ride is a little better, I can't push it hard enough on the street to see how it has changed handling at the limit. I just want it to be non-threatening for my wife to drive. Had to make a run to the local pick-n-pull and finally thought to get a couple of floor mat holders out of third gen Proteges. It is a direct fit for the left side of the driver's mat (I may have to enlarge the mounting hole so I can put it under the seat bolt) but I will have to extend the right one somehow. I just don't like the screws Mazda wants you to put into the carpet, and don't understand why they use those when so many of their other cars have metal brackets for the mats.

Changed out the front pads, cleaned and greased the sliders. Getting ready for my 1st lapping event Saturday.

Friday I washed her and swapped back to the Lightspeeds. This reduces my stress level as if the wife curbs one while I'm gone, I know I can get it replaced. That is it for a while as I'm headed back to work.

Safe travels!

Getting there! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431304548.252836.webp

Spent Saturday at a lapping event at Calabogie. Started in the novice class with class room and in car instruction. Was a lot to take in and didn't start to feel comfortable till the second lapping session. Got better from there. Was a total blast. Glad I put in the new pads but the clutch started to slip.

Looks like a new clutch and flywheel are in order soon.

Any suggestions? Daily driver with autox and lapping events.

Thanks to a couple new acquisitions from a buddy who moved from a house in ATL to an apartment in NYC, I literally ran out of space in the Weapons of Mass Destruction drawer in my toolbox. Now I have a Weapons of Mass Destruction shelf.

Also, courtesy of the same friend, snagged a couple sets of light-duty shelving. Good for getting lighter weight stuff off of the floor, and not much else.

Last night, my "new" 03 engine was dropped off. Over the course of the next hour and a half, I got more done than I did over the course of 3 weeks fighting with the other one. I think I'm going to get along just fine with this one. It was delivered as a fully assembled long block, minus the exhaust manifold. The exhaust studs came off easy, the intake manifold was butter, and much cleaner than the other one, all the EGR stuff came right off, etc etc etc. So far I haven't had to fight a single thing. Be still my heart!

I still need to pull the timing belt to check and to swap over the JamesCH coolant blockoff and the reroute, but I don't imagine that's going to be too big of a deal given the condition this one's in compared to its predecessor.

I looked at mine longingly as I backed the P5 out of the garage to go to work.

The Miata started to leak a bit of coolant from the radiator this week, so it'll be getting a fresh one on Sunday. Meanwhile, it waits in the garage on a GORGEOUS top-down day. :-(

After 2 weeks of upgrades she's finally back on the road for the first time this year[emoji594]

This weekend, I fixed Dori's home... does that count?

This is what happens when you don't use weathersealed wood and it gets wet... yay previous owners!

Ended up having to replace all of the fascia board on this side, and replace a section of the soffit:

Not perfect, because the roof really needs to be redone to fix everything 100%, but good enough for a $100 fix. Still need to apply sealant and paint, but the heavy lifting's done.
