What have you done to your P5 today?

Huhmm... birch ply fiberglass resin bondo lots of sanding black then clear then 2000 grit. More work than needed but I love doing it as much as seeing the near end result. Planned alumalite but got more anxious than the wallet could afford at the time :)

i want to learn to do fiberglass. So many ideas i have right now for that. How did you learn?

Now on another note. Did an inspection of my doors and how they seal. Noticed some rust crawling under the seals. What is the best way to clean up and protect that area? I will post pics tomorrow when its daylight. I believe this is where water is coming in and leaking under carpet behind passenger seat.

Next question i got, for those that have amps in there cars, where did you hook up the blue cable to your amp. The one that turns on when the ignition is on to turn on amp. I tried one spot on stereo unit, but only worked with radio so its definitely wrong spot. For now i have it linked with radios fuse line. Want to make sure that is a good spot for it.

You are talking about the remote wire and assuming you have an aftermarket stereo, there should only really be 1 wire to connect it to. Not sure if you mean it only comes on with the RADIO and not CD or USB (if you have that), but that's the way it works.

just found out my boss has a stud welder so we should be able to fix up my panel without having to cut it out and weld a new one in!

Changed the rear wheel bearing that I thought was making the wub-wub-wub noise. It seems I was wrong about that, I need someone with better ears to help me find this problem...

In case anyone cares, I bought a Timken part from rockauto ($80+shipping) and it's actually made in Japan. It looks just like the original part :)

That's good news Kyle!

Just came in from swapping the snow tires on. Also topped off the coolant and oil and loaded her up for my trip up to Boston tomorrow. I think this is the lightest I've ever packed for a trip up there. If the Noreaster hits us as expected I'll get a good idea of how well these Nokians are going to do for the rest of the season.

Attempting to get rid of rust from back passenger side. Was able to install xentec hid kit, nice blue color from headlights. Found some serious wire shorting in the housing. Fixed that and so far pretty good.

Took a ride up to Boston to meet up with the NEPOC gang yesterday and came home with a bumper while dodging downed trees on 287 in NJ in the snow. Changed the accessory belts while there so no more annoying squeal in the cold....woohoo! Belts were original and had over 153K on them...DOH.

Is belt chirping/squealing common on these cars? Mine has started squealing in cold/damp conditions, but goes away after 10-15 seconds. My belts are brand new though, about 6K on them...

They simply might not be tight enough. Generally a couple weeks after you install belts you should check their tension again because they tend to loosen up over time. I just recently tightened my alternator belt because it was way too loose; at stoplights I could make it squeal on demand by pressing the rear-defroster button :P
