The cars previous owner is/was? a member on here.

I was in the market for a turbo 5 speed car, and i spotted this one on craigslist. After looking at it, i bought it.

After getting the car home it had the "hesitation". and after reading up i determined it was indeed the bad factory tune.

i seen nothing wrong with the car Other then a valve pan gasket leak, cracked exhaust mani and it needing the obvious motor mount.

Which in the process of replacing the gasket and motor mount today, i noticed on the bottom of one of the hard pipes there was a pretty good sized hole big enough to get 4 fingers in. (one after the fmic running to the intake).

After investigating ive come to the conclusion that the broken motor mount let the motor move enough that a bracket on the engine had rubbed a hole into it.

So i take the pipe off, weld up the hole, grind it down, and throw it back on.
And i must say, It made a night and day difference to the drivability of this car. It builds boost faster, holds it more steady, and has a lot more power....

Now i really am experiencing fuel cut. haha. So the plans for this car is a steed speed mani. fix the leaky BOV. AFR gauge and a SSAFC and a set of tires and im going to just drive it.

The msp has to be the funnest car i have ever driven.

and heres a pic.

Can i suggest for you get the unichip over the SSAFC.!

But sounds like you got the car under control!

AND I almost forgot! WELCOME TO Mazdas247

That is Brads old car. I am friends with him man, Nice buy.

BTW I would just redo all the intercooler piping. the company that made that it did not do a good job. I would also replace the ebay BOV as it leaks..... There are some really good write ups on DIY intercooler kits and that would be your best bet in my opinion.

Yep, its brads car. i noticed that the piping was out of exhaust tubing but it serves its purpose for now. and the bov isnt that leaky although i am going to replace it. the BOV flange that was welded to the piping had some major cracks and heat draw causing an unflat mounting surface....well it really wasnt fully welded on after further inspection. . but i also welded that up. but thanks on the info ill read up on the DIY IC kits.

For sure man, I remember he was having problems out of the car once and I told him he should really look into replacing the piping. But I say once you get that lined out it will be a awesome car man. I always loved that car and it also has a sexy hood haha. You can get a FMIC piping set for cheap man off ebay.

EDIT: Hahaha man I forgot to give you a formal WELCOME to Mazdas247.com

Oh jeebus. When I test drove that car, many moons ago, it was running without an air filter. Just open turbo. He's made a few improvements along the way, and that car has came a long way. I'm kinda surprised he sold the car, honestly.

Definitely replace the piping. It's junk. Or was. I'm not sure what all Brad has done to it, I remember when he bought it though, it looked like someone had pieced together a hard pipe kit from muffler shop scrap.

Welcome to the boards! You should swing by Forcht Bank in Somerset during the Last Somernites Cruise, should be a couple MSP's out!

Was that pic taken on HWY 90?
