Has anyone experimented by trying to put some sort of filter on the incoming air before the blower motor? I get really annoyed by how fast my dash gets dusty. I detail the interior, then a week later it needs doing again! As far as i know there is no cabin filter in the P5, so i thought one could help.

Any thoughts?

I have Eu version and it has place for it, that reminds me, gotta change it. Of course the change is such a #"# U sure u dont have place for it? It is below the glowe box (or whatever its called :) ) There are two small filters, u have to put one in and slide it to side and then put another in. Maybe i take some pics if i gonna change mine.

Hmmm, thanks. I wonder of this is an option that my car does not have?

If you get a chance, could you take a picture of the location?

I'm pretty sure all cars have a cabin air filter, I just don't know where ours are located. Probably should change them out.

I don't think P5s have one, I know for a fact that "All cars" do not have them, many don't.

No cabin air filter is shown in the 2002 workshop manual for USA cars, it's not listed in the maintenance schedule.

Hmm, I wish I still had my P5 so I could take a look for myself, I would definitely have put in a cabin filter.

CH555, thank you soooo much for these pictures, i will check it out tonight and see if i have the provisions for a CAF, i highly doubt it though. I'm guessing i will have to open the air duct (before the blower) and rig one up myself. I'm thinking i could just cut up a piece of cheapo furnace filter and jam it in somewhere, then close it back up.

The P5 being an "economy" car would not have them, at least not in North America anyways.

question is, do you have that little cover u can remove? If u do, then its, easy, just gotta find the filter. When i got the car there was no filter, only lot of leaves and crap, so it seems there never was a filter. ok, back tomorrow, its 1130pm here. zzzzzzzzzzz

Haha yah, that's a great way to put it!!

Anyways, i didn't get home till late last night so i have not checked the filter location just yet, maybe i'll try at lunch hour today.

I too have been meaning to take a look at this. Did so at lunch today. Looks like USDM P5s *do* have a spot for it. You'd need to bust out some knockouts, and source the bracket and filters... Pic attached.

I've been googling around trying to find a replacement bracket and filter (in the US) and don't see anything. I did find this site where a guy retrofitted a subie, and I think the procedure would be identical for us:

All we really need is the part number for that bracket and filter. I bet with the part number, and dealer (or online part supplier) could probably source it.

CH555- any chance you could check that bracket for a part number?

Thanks wildo, that's some good research there. I'm guessing we need the dimensions of the cabin filter from ch555's car so we can cross reference that size for another part that will fit.
