Turbo/BOV issues Please Help

Hey everyone. Well i need some opinions and advice. I just got back from afghanistan where i was for the last 7 months. Come back home and start drivin the speed 3 around. everything is was great. I had my buddy that work at a shop that i use to be a mechanic at inspect the car change the oil and give her a look over right before i got back from over seas. everything checked out ok. Car drove great sounded great. Well today ( i've been home and driving the car around for about the last two weeks since i've been back. Started it up this mornin everythings fine. driving around out in town and i do a third gear shift hear alittle back fire ( back fire not unusual since i'm running a HKS BOV VTA and it does that from time to time i know because it's not being run recirc. ) a couple minutes later i notice my BOV sounds wierd. It started makin a normal BOV PSSST noise not the HKS high pitch sound that HKS's make. then i notice the turbo is not makin the whistle noise most turbos obiviously make atleast most stock turbo'd cars. The noise in my intake sounds almost like just alot of air rushin in not really a whistle. It kind of is just not as loud as before.

So first thing i think maybe the vac line came off or something causin a boost leak. Pull off real quick and check but everything seems ok. I do some WOT pulls around my house and i'm hittin 15 PSI of boost. I thought before it would hit 18ish and then drop to 15 but i have drivin my car for the last 7 months so i don't remember whats the normal boost at ? this is reading from my STri electric boost gauge. NO smoke is coming from my exhaust except for alittle black at WOT from running a CP-E DP with no cat. I'm letting the car cool down right now till i can go further and check things ot but anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be ? Could my HKS BOV just taken a s*** ? Thats what i thought at first but with the change in the sound of the turbo thats what worries me. thanks for anyones help.

The mod list as my signature is the same except now i've been runnin the HKS BOV VTA instead of the turbo x's. and i'm runnin a CP-E DP with no cat. instead of the turbo x's test pipe. and Home made boost control was removed awhile ago and everything is runnin on the stock boost controller solenoid.

FML I found the problem. Won't believe this and i'll try to post pictures to prove it. Some how My BOV broke. It's cocked sideways and you can tell it's straight ******. Don't know how this happened i've never had a problem with HKS but i'm gonna try to fix the valve if not the turbo x's is going back on.

post a pic

here's the pic. There's a metal/rubber piece that sits inbetween the valve body and the vent hole right where you can change the the body for high pitch low pitch or recirc. There's four prongs that are glued into a metal piece on the valve body shaft. that piece kind of looks like a plus sign or cross you can see it in the first pic. Three of the four prongs broke some how. I've re built and taken apart HKS SSQ's for a long time now. I've used them on all my turbo cars i've ever owned since back when the SSQ first came out. I've never had a problem with them so I'm suprised that this happen guess it was just a faulty part.

there's four prong that hold on the piece in the last pic to the piece in the first pic that sits inside the BOV thats shaped like a plus sign. The prongs are usually just held in place by pressure and heavy duty glue. Some how the prongs broke when the BOV opened or was shutting and caused the valve to jam and sit at a angle causing my boost leak BOV to sound wierd and the turbo to sound wierd cause the air was just rushing out but the valve was still able to slightly work just not right. Well I put my old turbo X's recirc valve on the the car drives fine now the turbo sounds fine and everything is back to normal except for my precious limited black HKS Valve. The valve was only used for about two months then i deployed to afghanistan and the car sat for the seven months i was over seas except to be moved a couple times. Like I said i think this was just a freak thing. I've always been a fan of hks and never ever in the god knows how many years i've used their valves ever had a problem.

first off I would like to say welcome back from that hell hole.

Second, damn! I wonder what caused that to happen.
