...in Dolphin Gray Mica and am very pleased with the purchase. Got it with the following options:

Nav/Trailer prep/Moonroof-Bose
Power Lift Gate
Wheel Locks
Black Leather (just didn't like the sand interior)

I do have to admit the OE Nav is terrible as the passenger cannot use it to seek out food/coffee stops while on the road. Thankfully we already have a Garmin for road trips!

I'll be ordering the OEM roof rack and splash guards along with a Hidden Hitch trailer hitch tomorrow and putting them on next weekend -- if I get everything in time.

Will post some picks soon.

Abother new CX-9 owner as of this weekend, a bit further south in VA.

Wife's old car was a bit small and long in the tooth, so she test drove the Pilot, Highlander, Murano, Acura MDX, Acura RDX, the Volvo whatever.

Wife didn't care for the handle with the Higlander and Pilot, liked the RDX (but too small) and MDX but the price differential was too great, even though we've owned two Acuras in the past and were very happy with them - the 60 month 0% interest was just too good of a deal.

My wife's favorite color was the dolphin but finding those with AWD is tough (stipulation of my wife after the past year's blizzards, plus most of my family is on the other side of the montains so we have some weather driving) so we went with the Black GT AWD with the Navi and Bose/moonroof/automatic liftgate.

So far so good, my in-laws have an X5 and they were very impressed with the vehicle (which obviously cost several thousand dollars less). The rear camera is a godsend for parallel parking as we live in the city. The side mirrors are also very nice, still working out understanding the other stuff. We've never had a Navi before so this is new to us.

Two questions:

1) Dealership wasn't pushy but said to look into the paint coating, especially for a black vehicle that won't be garaged, they quoted it at $299. That isn't that much considering the total amount of the vehicle, but is it necessary? I've bought 5 new cars in the past and never purchased a single "add-on", and never had any problems.

2) My wife is fine with not going through the Ipod integration (for now), I presume a simple auxillary cord works? Any quality issues with the sound?

Welcome you both.
1) skip anything dealer tries to sell you other than the vehicles. Period.
2) there are experts here that can answer the iPod question better than me.

Yeah, this color was hard to find with the black leather interior.

My wife drove the Acura RDX and MDX, the only other Cross SUV she liked before the CX9. After the CX9 there was no going back.

See if this works, this is our guy:

Nice!

I'd skip the paint protection. While it may be good, you can keep it just a s nice by waxing/polishing with a good product twice a year.

Paint protection is a scam--no better than what you can apply yourself. Here in ABQ many dealerships try to get you to buy the "Desert Protection Package" for $500, paint and interior protection. What a rip-off!

Anything sold by a new car deparment at a delership besides the "new vehicle" = A$$ raping snake oil.

Two things you "MAY" consider buying "ONLY": GAP insurance (watch out that they don't **** you either on this one) and MEPP (Mazda Factory of course not a third party crap)

Good call Davicho. The MEPP is the factory-backed coverage, but not all dealerships offer it. Many offer third-party. To be sure you are getting the MEPP, call them directly. Here is the link to the MEPP site:

Additionally, why pay the dealership mark-up? Instead, just call this guy over there for a direct quote:
