Was looking at, trying to polish my engine cover.
Has anybody done this already and had success.
what steps did you take and what did you use to polish it
also any photos of your cover done would be great.

u mean valve cover? if so then it is realy hard and time consuming! if ur still using ur plastic cover then all u would have to polish is the cam gear side of the cover, steps i used when i polished the lettering on my painted valve cover are 180 grit da, 320 grit da, 400 grit wet sand, 600 grit wetsand, 800 grit wet sand, 1000 grit wetsand, 1500 grit wet sand, then 2000 grit wetsand. any aluminum polish will work!

or u could just do what he said up to 800 then use a orbital buffer and some compound
u can take it to a shop too and they can do it for cheap

buffing out 800 would look like dog poop. if u want a mirror chrome finish i would go atleast to 1500

sry ,yes did mean valve cover. Forgot we have a engine cover.
Thanks for the info, was thinking of doing the whole cover
if it comes out really nice will leave cover off.
Really getting things together for my build.
want to really dress up the engine bay
Just wanted to know how much work was involved
any body got any pics of their cover done would love to see them

i did my own it wasnt too bad let me know what you think, theres alot of time in it i will tell you that

Thanks! There's a place around me (in Detroit) called Dynamic Metal Finishing. A little pricey but they do some pretty good work.

Wow they all look sexy, going to have to look into this for next year.
