Rock ding on hood

:
2009 Mazda 5, Grand Touring
While driving to work on I-5, I had a small rock (~2 cm) hit my hood and windshield on my Mazda 5. Luckily it did not crack my windshield, but it did leave about a 2 cm scratch in my hood between the windshield washer nozzles. It also dented the hood a little, enough to be noticeable. This is my first ding, my Mazda 5 has only 8000 miles. One body shop I took it to gave me an estimate of $477! Anyone get a ding fixed for cheaper?

i have a msp and ive got about the same thing on my hood.. mines just not as long.. i kind of figured it would cost about that much to have the dent fixed and the hood painted..

OUCH!

Sorry to hear about that, the first ding always hurts so bad. I have lost at least 5 windshields in different cars to the I-5 also.

You could try a Paintless Dent Removal specialist to remove the ding, however you will still have to use some touch-up paint on that scratch.

Or just wait until you have a few more dings to remove, and get them all done at once. It is much cheaper that way...

true!! The first dent hurts the most!!! I had some retards' kid push a cart into my car...I think I posted this story before...but basically got screwed on fixin it....I ended up doing PDR and it couldn't be saved...so the PDR guy didn't take my cash!:'( still would have liked it fixed...now I gotta find a paint shop to fix it....

There are lots of "fix a dent" guys hanging around town. Contact your dealer to get the dent guy in your area to remove the dent...now for the scratch maybe find a color match guy...

Touchup paint, about $5.

It won't "fix" the problem per se, but you won't jump out at you each time you look at the car.
