New 2010 CX-9

Here is the new 2010 CX-9. It looks like there are no radical changes other than some facelift in front and slightly changed rear lights.
Additionally, the side mirrors have slightly different shape as well (I sure hope they finally fixed the vibrating issue) and the built in LED signals are more subtle than on 2009 model.
As for the interior, gauges appear to be the same, but the steering wheel is a bit different and the middle console (below the navigation) was modified. They seem to have separated the mode from the temperature knobs (a good idea in my opinion).
I attached a few photos - let me know what you guys think of it. Those of you from NY area can see it at NY International Auto Show at Javits Center from April 10-19.

when are these due to hit the market? Wife is buying a cx-9 soon but if this is coming out soon we will have to wait for it

Here is list of what is new in 2010. (probably fall, 2009)

See news release here
http://www.mazdausamedia.com/content/2010-mazda-cx-9-bolder-and-more-sophisticated

■New family face features including a bolder five-point grille, radiator grille, front combination lamps and fog lamps
■New 20-inch and 18-inch wheel design
■Larger, more aerodynamic side mirrors
■Rear garnish, which compliments the look of the front fascia design
■Rear combination lamps that mimic the same Nagare-inspired texture as front lamps, while incorporating a new red lens at the bottom to show stability
■New exterior color - Dolphin Gray
■Chrome accents on center IP, A/C controls, automatic transmission lever knob, vent louver knobs, inner door handles and door trim
■New fabric seating surfaces
■Piano-black insets on steering wheel and around audio display
■Smooth leather and subtle stitching on seating surfaces offer a more quality-feel (standard on Touring and Grand Touring models)
■High-density fabric provides richer look and softer touch for cloth seats (Sport models)
■New double-lid design center console allows for ease of opening and has ample storage for up to four DVDs and nine CDs.
■Redesigned climate control system for rear seating areas
■Redesigned Advanced Keyless Entry and Start System key fob, which replaces the outgoing key card design (Grand Touring models)
■Available new 4.3-inch, full color LCD display audio system that allows intuitive operation of AM/FM radio, MP3-capable CD changer, SIRIUS satellite radio,
■auxiliary input jack, hands-free phone, and iPod connectivity, and serves as a back-up camera display. (Touring and Grand Touring models equipped with BOSE package)
■Two-stage heated seats (standard on Touring and Grand Touring, available on Sport)

All nice, except for the ugly new corporate face. Not anywhere near as fugly as the new Acuras, but a step in the wrong direction none the less.

Interesting how they made the HVAC controls more cluttered and added chrome to look more like the luxury CUVs.

One of the things i like about ours is how clean the design is. Emulating the complicated luxury models is a step back if you ask me.

Another photo he forgot...

I guess now you can have a rear view camera without the navigation and without losing the homelink mirror.

New rear controls also :

Much like the Prius, you can now have the MFD w/o NAVI system.
The rear A/C control looks more reasonable. The current one works but looks cheap.
I like most the interior updates (except for the steering wheel). Can't say the same about the exteror, though. Need to see it in person to form my opinion.

head-on however I'm not too crazy about the new design. Though it's kinda starting to grow on me.

I actually think the new steering wheel design is better.

The smiley face is starting to grow on me as well... As heinous as some people think, it's still pretty handsome compared to the competition.....

With some of the changes, like full auto climate for the back, 2 stage heated seats, standard bluetooth, DIS, touch screen audio, the CX9 is even more competitive with the luxury models, and still beats them in many ways.

Just found that there is an "AWD" emblem below CX-9 on 2010 model.
Good for the salesman. Too bad I got mine from eBay off an salvaged Subaru Outback.
I know, some people don't like too many emblems on their vehicles. At least I did not go all out to get an "GT" and slap it on the hatch....

I hate when they put emblems all over. GM and Toyota are so bad about that, and most others aren't far behind. The CX9s appeal is that they didn't crap it up with emblems ad moldings and nonsense. very clean car. Even the way they hid the door gaps.

I noticed the interior door handles look like metal. The plastic ones in my car have always seems chintzey to me. I wonder how hard it would be to swap them out and if they would fit my 08.

A lot of the painted plastic pieces are now chromed on 2010.

I'd be more interested in them being metal than chrome.

The digital rear climate control is nice as is the non-Nav dash screen. I have the tiny backup camera screen on the rearview mirror which works well, but I have always wondered why Homelink was not offered on it.
