2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
So i got bored and had some flanges and pipe laying around and thought i would make a down pipe. Instead of just making a full 3 inch, i used a divided flange for two different pipes. One for the exhaust and one for the wg, and then the both run into a 3 inch pipe. Ill post pictures when i get time and you guys can let me know what you think.

I have seen pictures of that kind of set up before, overall if the welding is good then it's not a bad setup.

Just curious....what do you mean by "flanges laying around"? Excited to see the pics. I'm working on something like this myself.

What i meant by that is i had a bunch of flanges that i made up at work for the turbo and turbo mani. And its not going to look the best, im just using mild 16 gau. steel right now, just to fit it all in the best possible way to get to the nuts and still have good exhaust flow. But the final product will be made out of stainless, and tig welded together. It hopefully will look somewhat like the GHL down pipe.

if you wanna get rid of your proto and a flange, I would love the chance to work off of what you're doing...see if I can come up with something myself...

When I get it all finished ill be able to get rid of the proto. I just wanted to make something for now until i can get my built engine.

no rush. I'm thinkin this would be a summer project for me.. making my own turbo back... with your help of course... would be fun. I'd probably have to buy quite a few bends though... as I'll have to try to do the whole thing with no bender and a 110V MIG welder.

Well as soon as i get a few pictures ill post them and give you guys an idea of what we have so far. And hopefully my friend decides to make the welds look perfect when i tell him the pictures will be on here.

Ok so this is as far as i got for pictures so far. We do have the pipes cut and pretty much fitted, ill get pictures soon. We had to take the whole mani and turbo off so i could fit the divider on the flange. As you can kinda see the divider fits into the housing. Hopefully it will be done soon. I only have weekends to work on it and im going snowmobiling this weekend so it might be a little bit longer.

Good i was going to say.... "what did i do wrong now"

FYI: My first time posting pictures on here.

Hopefully soon ill have the finished prototype. Then ill build a jig, and actually make it out of stainless and tig weld it.

Got a little bit further on the dp. tomorrow it should be done. ill have pictures of the fitment and how its a little easier to bolt up.
