Those of you with Dogs

My wife and I have two labs, a yellow and chocolate. The yellow is 5 months (already 40+ lbs) and the chocolate is 3.5 months. When we first got the yellow, I bought a seat cover for my wife's Corolla that matched her interior (gray). Since getting both dogs, I got my MS3 and she got a RAV4. The seat cover matches and fits perfectly in her RAV4 (also gray). We got it from PetSmart.

As for my car... being somewhat retentive since it's still less than a month old, I use Nature's Miracle pads (absorbent pads) and towels -- since the dogs are still young. I put down three pads to cover the bottom of the seat and then we have some huge beach towels that will drape from around the head rests all the way to the floor. Also, it is big enough to go from one side of the seat to the other and tuck in between the seat and the plastic trim. I also have the all-season floor mats. So, with all that... my back seat is pretty protected -- though, they haven't been in my MS3 that often.

I've not yet tried the seat cover I bought in my MS3, but it is fairly adjustable and holds well so I can't imagine why it wouldn't work. Unfortunately, this particular cover does not come in black.

They are the stock black guards that attach to the top side of the rear bumper by the hatch area. They stick via double-sided tape. they have helped with scratches of our dogs paws and the like.

Highly recommended if you have a pet that hops in the hatch area :)

You know I never quite though of the hatch as a good place for the dog! That is probably not a bad idea though. I wonder if there are any pictures of doggies in the MS3 hatch?

Not a 3 hatch shot, but in my wife's CX-7 :)

BSTD3, your dogs are adorable..

I have to drive 550 miles back to school soon (45 lb chow/lab mix in tow), and this picture inspired me to keep his leash on and attach him to a die down in the hatch area, not sure if i'll be able to keep the seats up with all of my other stuff, but it should keep him somewhat stationary.. He's great in the car but after a couple hours he gets lonely and likes to sit in my lap (Yeah, all 45-50 lbs of him) while driving, not exactly safe for long rides.. Keep the ideas coming guys I'm all for a better option and I'm running out of ideas

no pics of mine, he prefers my truck cuz he gets to sit right up next to me in the center of the bench

They do in the Pro5. Can't say for you 3 guys

Was just going to say the same thing. Our Jack-a-bee rides in his crate in the back of the P5. I also have the rubber mat so I just hose that out if any hair gets on it, otherwise, his hair weaves its way into the fabric and is impossible to get out. If my wife is in the car, then he rides with her up front...and I spend 30 mins brushing dog hair out of my car. The whole crate fits with the seats up even. Don't know about you MS3 guys though.

cool, do you get it from the dealer?

It should fit. I have laid the seats down "completely", and while it is not 100% level, it is close enough to put quite a bit back there. You may have to move the front seats up a little to make sure the head rests clear though. Other than that, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

I take the headrests off and put them on the floor between the front and rear seats. I'm 6'2". I need all the legroom I can get.

That would work too! I have only had to have both sides down once, so it wasn't that big of deal. It was only a 5 minute drive home.

I fold the seats down and wrap a flat full or queen size bed sheet around and tuck it as best I can then I put a big beach towel or two on top of that. I have two Great Pyrenees and a Aussie Shepherd to haul so they take up a lot of
room. These are my 3 pups.

My dog always rides in the back section. I actually picked out this car because the hatch makes it so dog friendly. Usually I fold the seats down, but not flat. I rest them on the backs of the front seats so that he has some more room back there, but cant lay down on the back of the seats and get fur stuck in them. He still has room if I need to keep the seats up and he is about 75lbs. He does great back there, but he is great in any car. His first experience with me was a 2 hour ride with 2 people and him crammed into a delSol. He actually has to ride in that delSol for about 4 months so now he can handle anything. Here is a pic of him and my friends boxer in the back.

I got a cover for the back seat of my MP5 and my sister has the same for her Jeep Liberty. My dad got one for his Dodge Nitro too, but for the grandkids, not the dogs. I found the cover on Amazon but the same ones and similar are all over the place.

The one I have (by Orvis) has adjustable straps looping over the rear headrest, velcro openings for the shoulder belts, openings for the seat belt anchors, tube inserts that slip between the back rest and the seat bottoms and bands to keep the bottom part anchored to the front of the seat bottoms. The fabric is very water proof and the whole cover comes out beautifuly when you need to take people for a ride. I've washed it twice with no shrinkage and the mud from the boggs of Long Island come out quite nicely.

Every dog I've had hates the back trunk area but loves the back seat. Fortunately for me, none of them like to ride in my lap and I nip that in the bud early. Hugo loves to hang that head out and sniff the wind, even at 110mph on a track day at Watkins Glenn!

Well since everyone is posting up pics of their little ones I post up a pick of my driving buddy. Whoever mentioned putting down the seats I want to thank them. I tried that yesterday and it worked like a charm!

What a cute pup.(thumb)

that little backseat hammock thing is nice! the seats have so much testure and getting dog hair out is damn near impossible! I would like to get that thing, any links or prices? I like taking my dog to the park on sundays but always have to lay a towel out and then he buries himself under it and gets hair on the seats

Here's my little guy, lookin stoned:
