Those of you with Dogs

I have an Aussie and a Border. They ride in the back seat wearing a full harness and latch belt that goes into the seatbelt latches. Don't want anything happening to my girls!

Usually they ride in the TDI or the Probe GT. Sometimes in the MS3. They like the all-the-way-down windows.

This mean pit rides in the trunk with rear seats up... sometimes i even forget he is there, cause just lays down and i cant see him.

Is there a gate option that separates the cargo from the passenger areas?

Not sure if they have one that fits the MS3 but they make them so they fit the Outback wagon and such... I see one on my way to work every day.

I picked out this car because I have 3 dogs and I need a very roomy hatchback to haul them in. My 95 Dodge Neon with no AC doesn't work very well for 2 100 lbs dogs and my lil' Aussie girl. The other cars/trucks we have also are not practical for dog trips.

i have dated a few dogs.( 300#+) i just fold the seats down and put them in back. they roll around a little but it works out ok.

Dude...that's just rude.

We have harnesses for our guys that click into the seatbelts. They ride in the back seat of the MSP...a good vacuuming and/or lint roller gets out *most* of the hair.

For reference, one is a 50# beagle/basset mix and the other one is an 85# lab/border collie.

that little backseat hammock thing is nice! the seats have so much testure and getting dog hair out is damn near impossible! I would like to get that thing, any links or prices? I like taking my dog to the park on sundays but always have to lay a towel out and then he buries himself under it and gets hair on the seats

Here's my little guy, lookin stoned:

Here's a link. http://autoaccessconnect.stores.yahoo.net/petresepr16.html That picture is hilarious. The face he is making reminds me of Stewie from Family Guy.

Thanks! He's a rescue dog from the ASPCA with, as far as we can tell, a Dutch Shepherd and Border Collie mix; 80 pounds of all boy power. Moving from the Honda coupe to the 4-door Mazda, he learned quick to keep the eyes closed and the sniffer on full.

On leisure track day at Watkins Glen, once he managed to stick his head out on the second lap, the Corvette and M3 in the 2nd photo pulled up and couldn't believe a dog was inside. I said, "He knows how to sit, stay, shake and BRACE!"

What beautiful dogs, poised for the next "job." You are absolutely right with the restraints for them. We all should. Few of us don't. I thought about it. Will regret it if that awful day happens.

I'm glad I found this thread, as my wife and I are going tomorrow to pick out our first puppy, a Great Dane. Right now we've bought a harness (actually 2, one for the puppy and one for full-grown) for driving, and I'm not sure whether we should go with a full cover or just a blanket for the back seat. We're pretty excited...pics to follow.

if it's a long ride, id suggest full cover, i learned the hard way, my bully had an accident and car smelled like piss for a month !!!!

Flipstylex, your presa is an impressive animal! He looks like he is going to be a monster in about a year or so. Beautiful dog man, sad part is to the common eye he would appear like a pit, but that muzzle is all Presa.

mazdaspeeder, anything that is rubber made is good, it can hold the piss and wont let it sip through de seats, don't get the cloth ones, if u subscribe to C and D, or any other car mags, the ones they have advertised there works good :)
