Hellish mod day...

Okay, so today i attempted to install my PG mani and my CS DP...yeah...

First off the install was a total (yupnope) , which we all knew, but this is where it got fun

After spending all freaking day taking the stock stuff off we tried to get the 2nd O2 sensor out and that didnt go so well becuase Mazda decided to strip the sensor out...fun...see pics below... Then when we tried to get the downpipe in... the bolts didnt match up. Below is a picture of the CS DP and the gasket. Its a bad pic, but let's just say that 2 of the holes dont match up.

So...(help)... I need to decide whether or not to send the CS DP back and get a different brand or what?!?! I know that there are a lot of people with that dp...

Is there any help that i can get before i send this one back?

I know that one option is to drill out the holes and make it fit, but is that really a good idea?

3rd is there any place that i can buy that 2nd O2 sensor besides mazda?

Also, is there anywhere that i can pick up one of those bolts from the turbo to the dp? it seems that one of the nuts doesnt want to come off...(flame)

Thanks. i am sure that i will have more to say tomorrow.

PS-- i'll try to upload pics tomorrow...i'm tired and this is not working right now...

^Nonsense, hes looking for help. If you cant get past that fact and are bummed because there is no eye candy for you, thats just pathetic.

Gay replies = Banzorz

Drilling the holes wont have any nagative effects. Just make sure you oval as little as possible without it bearing on the bolt, make sure there is enough room for the bolt to go in straight. Maybe use a washer on the ovaled out holes (disclaimer, not sure if there are washers already used, havent been that far on my car yet).

Not sure how much the sensor is from Mazda, but Protegegarage has them on their site. Unfortunatly, it looks like $314.95 for the front, and $139.95 for the rear. It was the front one that stripped, right? Ouch.

not sure about the turbo bolt. I would suggest Mazda, but then theres going to be questions pertaining to why you need it and they may be suspicious in the future if you swap back to stock for warrenty. Maybe try source one from a local hardware store. Makes sure its a high quality bolt.

1st problem, the O2 sensor. Not sure what method you used for removal. I have found the best way to get one out is to hit it a couple of times with pb blaster for a few days ahead of time. Not too much, just enough to wet the edge of the threads. Drive the car as normal. It will burn off, thats good. Then, when you want to actually remove it, get the car up to operating temp so the sensor is good and friggen hot. Then immediately get under there and remove it, it should come right off without stripping the threads as you experienced. Sorry I couldn't pass this along before you removed it.

2. Go to a dealer you haven't been to before with a friend. Buy the turbo bolt over the counter, without providing vin number or any meaningful information. This eliminates worries about why you bought said part. Install at earliest convenience.

3. Otherwise, the info given in the last post is good re: making the downpipe fit.

It was a joke people....a Joke.

Step down off your Soapbox's before I kick them out from under you....

Friggin noobs.

And to be honest..It sounds to me like this guiy doesn't know what hes doing...so maybe..just maybe...he shouldn't be working on his car.
Is that even a possibility for you guys to understand?
I highly doubt a pipe that MANY others have installed already is flawed...Unless they do each by hand without a jig...which I doubt.

I have experienced MANY well known products that have arrived well out of their intended specs. The question is it worth the time and expense of shipping/swapping it out, vs. carefully adjusting it to fit correctly. Mistakes can and do happen, even to the best manufacturers.

First of all, you are right i am pretty new and probably shouldnt be working on my car...by my self

However, I have a former machanic for Mosler and an Audi tuner helping me.

True i dont know what i am doing, but i am an analtyical chemist who on a daiy basis works on $100k+ instruments. I also build computers. In the past a friend and i built a Scout (that's an airplane by the way), which i later learned to fly....the list actually does go on... Needless to say i am pretty mechanically inclined.

So, as much as you are right about me working on the car, i am sure that at some point you didnt know what you were doing and honestly i hope that you were treated better than your tone and words are treating me right now... And...to be honest...your an ass for acting that way

Waste of a thread....
No pics=Banzorz

Honestly, i was trying to upload pics last night, but this new Vista machine that i am running sucks sometimes and the only pics that i can upload sucks... i will try to figure it out today.

This is true from both of you.

1.You have to start somewhere( I Respect that)

2.Yes- Even seasoned Parts manufacturers make mistakes.

Now if you will look over all the other stuff..and look to the original meaning of my first posting...I will now refer you back to this.

One of the holes on the DP is already an oval... It seems that the tolerances are a little wide on those holes.

It was the second O2 sensor which was taken out with much care. I had been spraying everything with PB blaster for hours before my friends got here to help. It really just looked like the Mazda install of the O2 sensor was bad because we could get it to move from the first attempt.

I think that i can find a bolt like this one, it's not that uncommon, but i am not sure where on a sunday...

Okay, so if i over reacted... i apologies...

However, your rhetorice is a little...none productive...

Do you have any suggestions or experience to share before i go back out there?
