So i hit the drag strip last week (video in sig) and did a horrible job with my best time being 14.4. My launch needed some work! Friend of my mines family has a HUGE ranch that has paved roads all over, and there is a really long straight bit. Whats a fella to do? Practice! The spike to sixty is due to flat footing into 3rd. This is on stock tires so im sure it can get much better. Has anyone done better than this that recorded it?

My best is a 5.18 0-60 according to my Aeroforce gauge. I take that with a grain of salt. My best 1/4th was a 13.3 @ 105. Again, with a grain of salt.

Stock mapping but with an ETS, CAI, lightweight wheels, and exhaust.

i wanna see a vid of this, it would be sick. Mods?

Will do! Let me get a few more runs in and such to get consistent and no problem. Should be noted that the flat foot into 3rd dropped my times from 5.4-5.9 down to the 4.8 run. mods - CAI,MM, CBE, DP

Yeah i understand what you mean, i want to do some more runs with a video camera on the cluster itself to validate the dashhawk.

Congrats, but the spike is confusing me. If I read that right, you went from 50 to 60 in about 3/10s of a second?

Thats sweet, now i really want a dash hawk! What rpm did you launch at?

I currently have an Escort GT2 timer thats still kind of fun for lateral G's and 1/4mile runs but I want to use it as a boost gage and have the computer hookup. Where did you mount yours?

Yeah, its got me wondering to which is why i want the camera in the car. I could feel the car surging forward hard with the flat foot, so maybe it is just lurching forward, but until a video confirmation i cant say %100 that the dashhawk isnt freaking out. All out flatfooting second just spins tires, but i think maybe 1/4 throttle would really help out. Ive got another concern as well though. The rev limiter does not kick in when the clutch is in, and i havent actually tested it with the clutch out. I know the dashhawk is off on rpms by as much as 400 at 6000rpm, and ive seen 7100 on my tac. Im a little concerned that if i miss a shift doing this that i could end up in 7500 territory. Also which wheel gives the speedometer its reading? If its the front, none of this can be given any credit.

I was launching around 2500 and pushing it up to 3000+ while feathering the clutch to keep it from bogging. After a few runs i could smell the clutch, so i stopped for the night. Id dont have it mounted permanently yet, but the lip on the dash close to the windshield makes it possible to wedge straight up and down between the dash and windshield, to get it out all you have to do is pull it to the right. Works out really well because its easy to get to and its right in my field of vision, which is handy because i use it as a shift light too. The cable runs great along the side of the dash, and looks like its suppose to be there. Pics later if i remember.

I'm not sure, but I thought the speedo reads off the tranny. I remember in a gps thread about people tapping into that wire.

If it reads off a front wheel or the tranny, that spike is prolly wheel spin.
:(

The speedo is tied into the tranny. That's why when you spin your wheels on ice or snow your speedo reacts accordingly.

Aww man, that means NONE of the dashhawk stuff is accurate, not the 0-60 or the 1/4. That SUCKS.......lol i feel foolish.

Why would you abuse your car?

BTW, according to your graph, your car was doing about 46MPH @ 4.75 seconds and then suddenly accelerated from 46 to 60 in about 0.05 seconds.

I don't think so...

These dashawk things only good for s**** and giggles it seems.

and checking and clearing DTCs, monitoring charge temps, monitoring AFRs, and Cat temps, voltage, injection rail pressure, short and long term fuel trims, knock retard, intake air temp, coolant temp, engine load, tranny temps, MAF voltage, % throttle open, manifold pressure, injector duty cycle, pulse width, ignition advance and being able to chart and graph all of those.

So yeah, s**** and giggles.

For the same reason i didnt buy an Cadillac.

An Cadilllac???

There is a big difference between driving your car hard and abusing it.

But as long as you have money to burn for out of warranty repairs, it's nothing to worry about. (headshake
