Yeah...I'm OK, just worrying about the insurance adjuster..with 89k on the clock I'm hoping they don't total it...will need (at least) a new hatch, bumper cover (don't know what happened underneath)repairs to the right taillight bucket - and a new rear tailight + assorted other parts etc etc etc(argh)

damn, i hate seeing that...Sorry about that brutha, its just stupid, if people would just pay attention it would save everyone alot of headaches but people make mistakes...Idiots

Thanx...would happen on a holiday weekend.....hope the body shop is open Monday...otherwise will have to take in on Weds. And we're flying to Florida in two weeks to hang out with the in-laws. Like I needed this now!

Is it just me, or does this curse seem to hit Blue and Silver cars more so than any other color? *knocks on wood*

Not that the Classic Reds are safe, I've been several close calls with my car, I've figured that people have grudges against our little red wagons.

I've gotta say that they're out for the yellow ones too. Had 3 cars almost hit me in the past 2 days. Maybe because it's covered with road salt and dirt its not as visible as normal. Like it's "bright yellow" instead of the usual "vivid yellow".

Whatever. Drive safe but drive fun while you can.

Oh man, that sux. Glad to hear you are ok though! I don't think you will have any worries of it being totalled. Just be sure to get a shop that knows what they are doing!

Wow...That sucks. I'm glad you're okay. Seeing those pics makes me sad. :( Stupid people on cell phones while driving...IDIOTS!

Going through a AAA rated shop that has a very good rep in the area so should be ok. PITA though.
One of my wife's co-workers husband is a CHP---he has to get on his PA at least once a day to warn drivers to get off the phone & pay attention to their driving---in July a new state law goes into effect banning cell phone use unless you have a hands free----I just let mine ring until I'm off the road...

That's one reason I like my 5spd- it gives me the excuse to let the phone ring...how am I supposed to safely make a phone call and shift at the same time?!?!?!?!

Exactly---unless you can grow a third hand....
BTW car's at the shop now, they will be giving me a call later with the first idea of repairs/cost/etc.......

New update

It's gonna get fixed. Est cost is $5300 (+/-), needs entire hatch assembly (inside & out) bumper, both taillights, dent repair, paint etc etc etc. Should have it back in about 10 working days.....

Make sure the rear alignment is exactly on spec before accepting it. Not an oral "the alignment is ok" but "here is the alignment readout". I made the mistake of accepting the former once and found out later that the rear alignment was NOT ok (although not terribly far off) - but there was also no way to adjust it later.

She's Back!!!

Picked up the car from the bodyshop tonite.....no pics yet 'cos its dark. Final cost---$5700. No issues with the alignment, all the damage was to the hatch & some surrounding sheet metal, never affected any of the suspension mounting points. Will try to get some pics up tomorrow. :)

Here are the "after" shots I took this am... Mike's Autobody did a good job on this...but now the car reeks of paint. -that "new car" smell??
