Pics of installed Turbo XS FMIC

Hey I did most of my FMIC install today in the 40 degree misty rain. It is a Turbo XS kit. I didn't do the power steering fluid cooler yet, and I am leaving my bumper off because it has to go for paint now. So all the zip ties you see are temporary only so don't get in a tizzy about the ghetto look.

The install is pretty damn simple. I had to remove a few of the original power steering cooler brackets and air shields that the directions made no mention of. I also trimmed a wire bracket on the front of the transmission because it was touching the lower pipe which runs along the bottom of the radiator. Yeah thats about it...Later.

i guess you dont care too much about the professional looks of having the hose clamps all aligned together :P, other than that, it looks pretty good

Ya'know I do care but some were so damn tight to get on and slide around I went with the path of least resistance. I will make tham all even eventally. Thanks for pointing that out tho haha.

looks awesome... let me know what the gains on from doing this and everything. Im interested. Other than that.. looks pretty good.

Looks really good, I assuming from your HKS adapter that the stock BOV will still work with this kit.

Yes the stock base and hose did fit sort of. I had already hacked and slpiced my hose so more adjusting and trimming made recirc possible. I will run VTA once I start tuning the maps.

hey craig,

can you provide a picture of the front view of the car, with the whole front end on? just so we can get an idea of how much the core fills the "void"?

thanks.

Looks good man! I know about those late night rainy cold installs too. I just did my Corksport FMIC today.

Did you have to trim the bumper at all?

You have to trim some spots but it is nothing major or visable. The fog lights still fit also.

I don't have shots of the bumber on as it is at a body shop now. The core is bigger than the others at 31". The end tanks are visable on the sides but it is covering 98% of the opening on the speed 3

Any chance of a cpe intake working witht his or no? I gotta see this bad boy in person when your all done with it, or if you need hand, being htat yours is still broken lol. Give me a call man im down anytime.

If you want to come over to my house before I put it back together. I have the bumper off now and I have to take my intake off to put on the Cobb I got anyway. You can come over and put your CP-E on for a sec to see if everything clears.

let me know when u wanna try this out.

FMIC looks good...I really wanna do on my MS3-- I always wanted to with my WRX, but never ponied up the cash.

just a side question, and don't take offense to this..

why do you have an HKS ssqv set up to recirculate? It basically just functions the same at the stock bpv...why upgrade?

Ditto I always used a STI TMIC.

The HKS valve is a better design. It does not open under vaccume or creep open with boost like the stocker. It sounds better no matter what , but I also have a custom recirc so it still has a slight HKS vta noise. I also can run vta if I want which after I start really tuning the car I will work with it.

Hey here are some new shots of the new Cobb intake and $treet Unit BOV recirc hose. The Turbo XS FMIC is 100% compatible with the Cobb SRI. The $treet Unit recirc hose is just a 4 ply straight hose in 1-1/8". That doesn't fit so great. I had to trim it which is why my stock one was screwed up.
