Interior Repair Help!

Hi everybody.

It's started, and it seems to be spreading. I am referring to a small cut/crack on the drivers side armrest. I have no idea how it actually got there, but it is growing in size, and i'm mindful not even to use the armrest now.

First instinct was to just put tape or something on it, to try and halt the progression. I dont want to sound too alarmist, it's only about 1/2 " long.

Firstly, what is the trim made of? I dont think its leather? Vinyl?

Any suggestions on a repair? Failing that, does the whole door trim piece pop out so it can be replaced? Or would that include the speakers/electronics wires etc etc?

ANyhow, on to the pic. It's a cell phone pic, hope it gives a good idea of what i've described above.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

It's vinyl. you could try one of those couch repair kits to see if it will patch it, or you could try to rewrap everything.

if you get an inside trim, its easy to change, just the inside part of the door panel, just need to unplug the electric window and mirror connectors, and thats it...

or simply find a repair shop, that would be like 50$ repair,i had a scratch on the lower part of the dashboard, they fixed it at mazda,i saw the job being done and the guy explained me the techniques,so its less than an hour to get that fixed....

good luck...
