Tire Paint????

I got the urge to do something quick and easy to my car and I didn't want to go the store, so I got some acrylic paint and put a little on my tire. I've seen it done on a few other cars on honda-tech and I liked the way it looked so I figured I would give it a shot.

There aren't many places to put it on my Kumho's and the Kumho lettering is too large and it would look silly if I painted that, so I did the "supra" in Ecsta supra. It's small but noticeable.

I kind of like it but I'm not sure how it will look if the car is moving (it might look like I have red line tires).

Let me know what you guys think because I'm so insecure, I can't do things without others approval :)

If the majority is a thumbs up, I'll do the other side.

It's just paint so I can easily take it off anytime.

looks nice

better then this one guy that i saw that painted his tires
it was one of those chevy hhr's and they wanted to make it all old school i guess so they painted the side wall the faces out. and its not like they did it good. like its was painted on with a paint brush. and it was an old man driving it. i guess thats what old people do

Thanks, if the majority of you like it, I'll probably scrape this off and get the real Duplicolor tire paint as I just used a small paint brush and some red acrylic paint from my college art classes (paint is about 10 years old).

I think it turned out pretty good for using a paint brush.

Thanks again man, I'll take that as one vote for the yes column.

I like it! .. Only I dunno about the whole 'Supra' thing. Makes me wanna be all, but that isn't a Toyota! LOL.

I do like the concept, tho'. Too bad I'm so anti-any-color-other-than-silver-or-gray-or-black, or I might steal the idea. :)

Edit: If you ever decide to sell your wheels, please sell them to me. Every time I see 'em, I just wanna start licking the monitor.

I know, I wish it said anything other than "supra". I know I'll hear many times that it isn't a supra/toyota.

I might just leave it on for a while and see the comments I get.

Thanks for the kind words about the rims, I like them too. There is something to be said for the big names like Advan or Volk but when it comes to wheels, I buy what I like. I know they are lower grade wheels and not forged, and I've heard that I should have spent more on wheels but I like them on this car so I'm happy.

I like the idea it just seems like there should be more painted on the tire besides just supra, maybe something longer or on the opposite side to make it proportional.

I wanted to do something across from it but the only thing across from it is the huge KUMHO lettering. What about if I just did the Ecsta?

I could scrape off the supra and do the larger Ecsta.

I don't know.

Based on the comments here about the "supra" thing and evening it out, I figured I would try just doing the "KUMHO" and their logo on the drivers side of the car to see how that looked.

It's definitely larger and much more noticeable. I was pressed up against the garage wall taking these so they aren't the best and I can't get a shot of the car from the side.

Let me know what you think.

Weird. I kind of like it. I didn't think I would, but it's not bad.

That's how I feel, I was bored and wanted to try it thinking I wouldn't like it... but I do.

What do you like more, the little 'supra' or the large KUMHO?

Decided to just go with the logo and 'KUMHO'. I did all 4 tires tonight and it looks pretty good and I think I really like it.

We'll see how the paint holds up with use.

Definite thumbs up. I really like that. It looks great with the red calipers.

Crap, now I might have t'go and paint mine silver .. except there's that little problem of the fact that I have BFGoodrich tires in front, and Kumho in back. So I'd be sporting two different logos, and that'd prolly look dumb as hell.

What kind of paint did you use this time? Caliper paint, something else that'll hold up better to the heat from the tire friction?

Looks good! I wouldn't have thought to do that, but it does really make the caliper color pop... :)
