Whoever helps me find new rims earns a whopping $5.
Seriously though, I'm looking for new wheels. Here's what I need:
1-17"
2-7 or 7.5" wide
3-Forged wheel. Absolutely must be a forged wheel.
4-It's gotta be a high offset (~+48 or so)
5-5x114.3 bolt pattern
6-Correct center bore for the Protege
7-under 20lbs in weight
8-It has to look good. And i'm a picky bastard. I'm partial to 5 spoke or the split 5 spoke (10 spoke) wheels. I hate wheels that have big extra holes in the center of the hub. I hate wheels that have big "dips" in the center. The transition from spoke to center hub should be smooth, not abrupt. I also hate that look that a lot of rims have where it's as if there are rivets around the perimeter. Also, I generally like traditional silverish wheels, rather then black, white, etc.
The Rota Subzero (which isn't forged anyway) violates two of my rules. It has extra holes, and it has a big, sudden dip in the center of the rim...
It just doesn't flow.
OTOH, I love the SSR GT1s, but they no longer make them.
They make SSR GT3s, but they have those rivet looking things around the perimeter, and we all know how I feel about those.
I'm sure I'll revise my rules as people suggest things to me, but have at it. Like I said, I'm a picky bastard. Do your worst, mazda forums.
