2001 MP3 LASER BLUE MICA
I have been looking a bunch of differnt intakes for my 2001 MP3. I am trying to build up my lower end power. I was thinking of going with Weapon R short ram secret weapon intake system. I was wondering if anyone had this or heard anything about it. or what they use. or I was thinking of going with an electric supercharger. any thoughts on that?

Uh, whatever you do, do NOT get an electric supercharger. Never had experience with Weapon R. Most people on here use AEM, Injen, K&N, and Simota.

I have been searching for a K&N and have not yet found one on a site to fit the car. I have found the AEM, Injen, and few others but not K&N. and the way the WeaponR brings in the air looks like it will be the best bet. having 2 differnt air flows then combined at the end creating a better forced injection. but dono. my goal is to set aside money for a turbo in the long run.

Get ahold of Protephile through PM. He sells the Simota intakes for great prices.

If you want one of the above discussed intakes visit one of these websites:

cool, thanks for those sites. will help me with the other things I am looking for too.

Just updating my post.. I ordered a Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake System with Ram Air Kit..... I'll let everyone know how I like it when I get it. was only 192.69 after shipping

I hope you like it. I'm running with the K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake that I got from Protege Garage and I love it.

The intake ended up being to long for the car. and I can not install the ram air kit. other than it made it sound so much better. I just have to cut it down some.

u can remove that front piece in front of the engine. on top of the radiator. for a stock intake it would help, but wont really help with ur intake much... but u can still leave it. covers up that ugly stock header =)

Here is a new picture... I removed the stock ram air thing and moved my intake... it fits perfectly now.

Just under the hood. others are red. dono why.

Woo hoo another Weapon R! I was realy happy with the performance gains with this intake. (But I have a header nya nyea ne nyea nyeaaa ahem..sorry I had to finish the jab how immature of me.) I am going to rig the RAM air through the drivers side fog light. ( am not cool enough and never use them anyway) It sounds absoutly crazy but home depot had a 3" elbow that fit in that tight space. (look in dryer duct section lol) I just need to paint it and route it. I love the way it sounds! I did not like their RAM air kit (pictures) because it just didn't look like you could get a lot of flow through their foam filter at the front of the kit. Weapon R does well so I may be wrong. You have the kit what do you think?

I have no room to install the ram air kit. :(

Dirt compartment sorry. The room issue must be solved. All that yucky heat is just getting sucked into my intake. I am at high altitude already and this probably adds 4 seconds to my 60 second 1/4 mile times!!

It will be very easy to put on an aftermarket elbow at the MAF. You would need to move the coolant resivoir. As you can see by my current picture I have the same problem.
I need to play around with it more. I think its possible we would have more options if we moved the coolant resevior out of the way as far as moving the RAM over to begin with. Must.....have...RAM....air......

Yes that is a must have... I wouldent mind putting an elbow in... but that will just ruin the whole Weapon-R theory because of how it will only be one tube and not 2 (no) .. and what did you do with that one connector at the top of the intake by the engine? it used to have a spot on the stock intake and now i have no where to put it. and I am looking at buying the OBX Stainless Steel Race Header. by the looks of your picture thats what you have... hows it treating you?

Are you talking about the temperature sensor? The intake came with a grometted hole to put it in. You can see it in the top. Ignore the writting. I do not want someone to steal my picuture.

The OBX header is great. You will feel more "butt" dyno gains on this than anything else. I even added abit to Ken's how to post on it.

I am going to buy the RAM air kit and play around some more. I think with the elbow you will still have the WR theory before it reached your intake manifold. It will be much better to have cool air this summer.

I put my stock exhaust back on..ahhhh the relief. It even is a bit more torqy..if that is a real word. When I was putting the stock muffler back on I ran it without any muffler. It was more quiet without any muffler than with the MS muffler.
