I finally went wingless which I've been wanting to do for a while. I also put my autox wheels on. I think it looks a lot better. Thanks for looking!

I think that the msp looks really clean without the the wing, yet at the same time it looks really nice with it.. Good job, something different huh? Looks good!!

Peace,
RJ

i dunno. i just don't think the msp has the right rear end/trunk to be wingless. whatever rocks your socks though. what'd you do about the holes

Cool, I went wingless too. I like how it looks. And plus, you got your holes covered somehow or is that just a regular Protege trunk?

The car looks awesome...I see you found a wingless protege trunk in your color. That's the beauty of a sunlight silver msp not as easy for the rest of us.

If I were to go wingless, I'd do the same but it wouldn't be as simple. I'd buy a trunk, go badgeless, color match and swap. I'd store my original trunk/wing and in case I missed it, just switch it back..... or vice versa.

Get a carbon fiber trunk now... and a carbon fiber hood if you dont have one already.. ;) omg that would look sooo hot... :D

Peace,
RJ

n00b/dumbass question...but....would it help?
According to the stuff I could find the MP3/ 03 MSP wing was designed for the prototype "Street Protege" (forgot the real name) thing and it was designed in a wind tunnel to fit the car. I would love to see the data but alas they mentioned the design etc. but they did not say, Hey, here is the downforce at this MPH and here is the drag etc.
I would say that if in fact the engineers went to the trouble to design and test the part that it would in fact have to be beneficial.
The two times I was actually at the dealer they had a few pages from a Mazda magazine posted on the wall with an artist sketch of the car and some accompanying info about the design etc. It was turbo-charged, even though the MP3 was not. Heck the MSP's that were handed to the press in late 02 around October had hard-pipes! Pre-release of course.
Anyway the 03/MP3 wing was designed to add proper downforce to the car. I am fairly certain the 03.5 wings were not, not to pick on the 03.5 :)

This mentions the Prototype. I will see if I can find the exact Mazda article.

"Modifications to the Protege StreetCar Concept include lowered suspension,
17-inch wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with Brembo(R) components, rear wing,
stainless steel exhaust, front driving lights, Sparco(R) lightweight,
one-piece racing seats, custom interior trim treatment, alloy driving pedal"
set, short gear shift, and custom Kenwood(R) audio system.

Still no dice on the whole thing. I will keep looking.

Hmm. found this goofy AWD PR5.

Oh yes, here we go. Check out the MazdaSpeed brand front mount no less... The 2000 Mazda Protege concept.
Damn they could have just ran with this but no MNA had to **** it all up :(
Mazda always seems to get up on the edge of greatness just to fall off :(

Thanks for all the comments. I got lucky and found a cheap wingless sunlight silver trunk on eBay. I still have my msp trunk in the garage just in case I wanna put it back, but I like the wingless look so much better.

...and yes Charles,^^ your car was definitely an inspiration.(cool) As a matter of fact, all the Texas wingless msp's were my inspiration. lol

I bought these off a member here on the forums. I had been looking for these wheels as well for a while but I guess tirerack stopped selling them. Wedsports would be nice tho if they were 15's! lol
