Is anyone working on a lightweight hood for the MS3?

hm.. already a couple threads on this. One of which I started. :)

I have come to realize though..

more weight over the front tires is a good thing for us.

Can you point to the thread(s)?

Carbon hoods have always left me a little....blah. I don't see any real performance gain from 20-30lbs loss (if that's the difference)
Take your spare tire out. Date a skinny chick. To me it doesn't seem worth the money and possible fitament issues.

...says the man with 18lb wheels!

I figure the hood is an easy remedy. My first mod (before warranty expires) will be a radar detector. Then probably the wheels. Then most likely a CAI and MAYBE, if I hear enough good reports, the TMIC (yes, I know I reacted negatively to the reported shoddy work, but hp is hp, no?). The hood would be a good thing to throw in that wouldn't affect the warranty either.

Reduced wheel weight gives you bennies all around. Less unsprung weight = much quicker acceleration, lessened rotational mass, quicker suspension response, better gas mileage, and increased street cred at the car warsh. These wheels pay me!

The hood is just sprung weight.

Some people actually like the look of a CF hood.

Then let's call it what it is! Appearance mod with the side affect of weight loss. :)

They've always looked out of place to me. I used to have a red car with a black hood. My old hood got all bent up. My black hood wasn't by choice. (sun)

Hopefully a company like DG Motorsports gets off their ass and produces functional hood and other Carbon Fiber parts for the MS3 and Mazda3. They were on a roll their for a while with the Protege5/Protege...

You Called, see attached pic.

The stock hood only weighs 39 lbs. That doesn't seem like much to me, is it?
