Fiberglass Source?

I need to purchase fiberglass material and need a source. Can someone suggest any companies that I can buy online for fast shipping?

If you purchase online, you can get it from www.selectproducts.com and there may be a few other places that are cheaper.

However, shipping the heavy material is expensive so you should first try your local home improvement store to see what they have (home depot, lowes, etc). Walmart also carries it in small quantities for real cheap.

So the fiberglass at Home Depot and Lowes is just as good as what I would buy online? I would rather shop locally if the quality is ok.

Well, not exactly...but it is fiberglass. Professional installers often use higher-grade resin because it is supposedly stronger, provides a longer working window before curing, and it doesn't smell as bad. It is also cheaper when buying in bulk. However, for a DIY person working on a single project, I doubt you would notice the difference.

i used fg from home depot for my project, and am now on my 3rd year running my fiberglass box. still good as the day i finished it. infact, i've been thru 4 different 12s and the box is still rock solid.

HD fiberglass resin is a problem if it is old, there is only a 90 day shelf life and that stuff doesn't exactly fly off the shelf. The fiberglass matt at the Depot is fine. If you want a product that will be easier then look at the fiberglass filler or the stitched/woven matts as they spead things up and make it much easier.

What happens after 90 days?

I get mine at the local boat store, they sell the mat and fabric by the yard. They also have some good resin, don't remember the name but its purple.

i got a hold of some bad resin

it doesn't want to harden and you have to scrap all the syicky junk off. royal PITA. go to ur local boat supply store or automotive paint store.. trust me...and depending wat ur making eg. FG subenclosures buy fleese from a fabric store....GOOD LUCK
