--------My GSXR Rebuild Thread--------NO 56K--------

If you send it to get chromed take it completely apart yourself. CHrome shops around here are notorious for putting things back together with the wrong fastners because they lost the stock ones. I'm slaving away on a bike right now as well although my project isn't near as cool. I was asked to recondition an old 1982 Kawasaki GPz550 for a friend that had been sitting for 3 years. I just got her running somewhat decent tonight and I still need to do a little adjusting with the air screws on the carbs. After that I get to rebuild the brake calipers, put in new fork seals, and replace the tires.
Yeah no doubt on the chrome shops...Luckily I have a good polisher and chromer...They get it done right...but yeah,I usually strip everything down as much as possibble just to keep the cost down...It make a real difference. Those guys don't do anything for free!(boom07)

why not chrome it out? if he wants to show it ... he said he had another bike to ride so im guessing this one is just kinda like a show / toy ...

in my opinion chrome looks great on sportbikes ... if its done right :)

[threadjack] my bike just got back from paint today, its candy apple red :) ill post pics tomorrow[/threadjack]

why are you chroming a sport bike out of curiosity?
Why does your car have a tone of CF?
Because you want it....Damn man...its a bike, its mine, and thats how I wanted it. Actually though....I have slightly changed direction with the bike and I am not sure if I am gonna chrome it or not this year. I want to stunt a little and I would hate to trash some nice, new expensive chrome. Not to mention I am trying my hand at painting for the first time with this project...
On a good note, I got the bike on the road today for the first time and she rode out nice....although it was sporting NO Gear except the gas tank....Straight stripped right now. And I also picked up my new compressor tonight to get it plumbed in for the new paint job to come....The next couple of weeks should be fun. I was hoping to have this done already but school is taking a lot more of my time than I expected....and since its more important, this will just have to wait. It's getting done...little by little.

all you had to say is stunt, that explains everything

?? chroming things weakens its integrity ... stunters dont chrome things because they beat the s*** out of bikes and chrome falls apart under the pressure ... they do alot of polishing but no chroming ...

glad to hear you got it on the road how does it run?

what i meant was if he plans on stunting then he doesnt care about it being fast or handling well, its all for looks and doing 5mph wheelies. i personally think that stuff is silly and funny. sport bikes are meant to be taken to tracks, to the mtns, and riden hard. stunting is just a waste of a nice machine in my opinion. but to each his own i guess

bikes scare the s*** outta me....
one day i almost killed a ****** who was cutting cars in his bike....i changed lanes and bam...he was there...had to swerve back hard....almost killed me too....fuckers..

Looks good. I had a 2004 R6 for a little while. I didnt really read the post, but if the bike was dropped you should check for hairline cracks in the frame if you already didn't.

Bike is painted!

I painted it a custom Pearl white tri-stage.
There are very few white bikes out there...so once again, I am out to be different.
Here are some pics....and yes, that is me painting it!
