Well , I started ripping this thing apart last night and just thought I would show you guys my little project as it progresses along.
It starts as this twisted mess tonight...but hopefully in a few weeks will be back to better than new goodness!

This is also my first attempt ever at hosting pics rather than attaching them...Sure hope this works!(thumb)

damn thats a mess....
Give it about a month..It'll look better than new ...and just in time for riding season!(thumb)
Beleive it or not....The pic with the plastic off....Everything is ok and free of damage from the tank back..the tank, frame, rear plastic,wheels.....its all nearly perfect....just needs all the busted pieces.

And before anyone asks, heres the story on it.

For starters, everyones OK....I bought it this way about a month ago and heres what happened...Guy bought it and had never ridden before...Lets a friend who has riden for years ride it, and low and behold...he lays it down at about 40MPH....It slides on its left side until it comes to a nice stop resting against the side of a car.

The guy riding got some rash but is ok, and beleive it or not, the bike looks worse than it is. It is gonna cost a lot to fix but I think it will be worth what it takes to get it back to better than new. It has just over 7K miles on it as we found out last night and after installing the new magneto cover and the radiator....The bike Fired right up even in the subfreezing weather...No chrger and no problems!
It had been sitting for about 6 weeks like this...but its ALIVE...It runs again!<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Yes..CLean title..no insurance involved at all..And sweet deal....a little...Its quite expensive to buy the parts i need....A little over $4000 If I buy them all from the dealer....but we don't buy things from the dealer now do we...(boom07)

Who's ninja in the background? I just bought a 99 ZX6R, love it, but needs some body work.

i have an 03 R6 ... good luck on the rebuild, since gsxr's are the most popular bike, look around on ebay im sure you can find a good deal on all the parts you need

Good luck with it.
I like those suzuki's.
I really like the old RAD 750 or 900.

Yeah...I have been all over ebay grabbing up good deals on parts..Its a great place to get stuff!(thumb)

I got a little more work done tonight. Mainly cleaning up the garage and pulling the front wheel and rotors as well as pulling the left rearset and yanking it apart to replace the broken shift lever. (cabpatch) More to come tomorrow evening for sure...I gotta pick up some more stuff for reassembly...Mainly some thread locker.

ENJOY! (thumb)

Looks fun! I've got a GSXR 750 and a GS1100 drag bike in my past. I always like wrenching on bikes, as opposed to being bent over an engine bay at a 45 degree angle for hours on end or burning your head on a dp while changing the oil .... nice garage heater btw.

coming along nicely ... is the guy who wrecked this bike ok ? i ask cuz i just had a friend wreck 2 weeks ago and his bike looked similar to this and he was all banged up .... just got out the hospital yesterday

lookin good ... how much longer till you think its back together, my bike is in pieces now cause its getting painted :)

New pics of some used replacement plastics I picked up. Some need a little work as these did come off of a wrecked bike, but nothing I don't feel I can't handle. Also a pic of the new shift lever installed and my ever growing corner and Wall of parts!

ENJOY!(thumb)

I would say 4-8 Weeks..I am in no hurry..I have another bike to ride...This one has to go for paint and chrome as well...so in due time it will all come together.

And the guy that wrecked this was slightly banged up but he's OK now.(thumb)
LOWSIDES SUCK!(boom07)

If you send it to get chromed take it completely apart yourself. CHrome shops around here are notorious for putting things back together with the wrong fastners because they lost the stock ones. I'm slaving away on a bike right now as well although my project isn't near as cool. I was asked to recondition an old 1982 Kawasaki GPz550 for a friend that had been sitting for 3 years. I just got her running somewhat decent tonight and I still need to do a little adjusting with the air screws on the carbs. After that I get to rebuild the brake calipers, put in new fork seals, and replace the tires.
