I just fabbed my rear sub...whatdyathink?

that looks amazing - very oem, and is EXACTLY what i'm looking for and wanting for my sub!!!!
one question though... why the driver side (at least, that's how it looks from the pic)? i thought there was more room available on the passenger side? granted, you'd have to remove (likely) the jack, but it's not really of that much use anyhow, lol.
oh yeah - drawings? plans? schematics? how much to make me one?? lol (yes, i am very interested if you couldn't tell

Hmm, it would be difficult to fit a 10", perhaps up higher and coming out more into the trunk space. I chose the driver's side space because it was just dead room, and I still wanted access to the jack on the passenger side. I had an 8" sub in my crewcab and it was plenty for me; I don't do boomy, I like full sound.
As far as schematics, I just taped up the panel, layed two layers of fiber glass and popped it out. Added some more layers, stuck my mdf ring into the bottom area (fit snuggly with a little glue). I then stretched a t-shirt over the part and soaked it with resin, and added more layers. Finally, I spray-glued down two layers of 1/4" foam (it was actually roof liner material I bought at the local fabric store, along with the black leather vinyl). After that, I stretched the vinyl over the foam...wallah!

Ah, gotcha. I wouldn't dog on a proper ported enclosure, although as you mention it would tough to calculate exactly. How much power are your running? Would it be possible to put in something else, like a Koda 8? It seems like something with a little more unf would be nice, higher xmax, power handling and possibly sensitivity...
Either way, awesome project. One question that has been tickling me with these things: how do you secure the sub box? I'd like to have something pretty easily removeable for autocrossing.

Khaosman, I agree, a properly ported box is nice but it's main purpose is to have a high, flat dB response all the way down to the tuned frequency, then it drops like a rock. A sealed enclosure will have a lower output, but is also capable of reproducing lower frequency bass because it won't bottom out like a ported sub. Of course, if I had a nicer driver it shouldn't bottom out anyways, but alas, my AV-8 needs the firmness of a sealed box.
BTW, it's powered by 100Wrms from an A/D/S 6.50.
