Noob Question

Well...I'm new at this and basically have a (most likely dumb) question. I just bought an AEM dry flow filter with a 3" fitting. I didn't get the short ram kit or anything, just the filter. I put it on the end of the MAF I think...but the sensor that was in the stock airbox is now hanging loose...I'm assuming this is a problem, but I just wanted to know what it would do if I left the sensor out. I didn't start it up yet, but i need to know as soon as possible so i can drive again! :)

Drill a hole in the bottom of your filter and stick the sensor in there.

I have the same filter. Except that if you are putting it in the stock location the correct size should be 2.75", but no big deal you'll just have to tighten it more. I assume you are talking about the IAT sensor (intake temp sensor). I just drilled a small hole in the end of the filter and plugged it in. see pic

That's exactly what I was talking about. I wasn't sure if it was another sensor that needed to be attached along with the MAF but I guess I can just leave it off for now. Do you think a K&N filter will do any better that this AEM? I was looking at those as well, but i wasn't sure if it was actually any better (or worse for that matter). Let me know what you think.

I think that performance wise either filter will be about the same. I chose the AEM because you can just wash it and dry it, no oiling needed. So basically it less maintenance. Both are good companies, just do your research and go with what you think is best.

Yeah, I already bout the AEM and I was just wondering if one would perform better or worse than the other. I got the AEM for that exact reason though. I don't want to have to oil that crap all the time.
