I have Dish network HD, which only gives me transmitted HD channels like Discovery HD theater, ESPN HD, etc. I want to get ABC, CBS, etc in HD as well. It hurt to watch the USC Texas game in SD.
I hear with another antenna I can get local HD OTA broadcasts.... is this right?

Here is the PDF manual on my reciever:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/product_brochures/dish_811.pdf

Attached is a screenshot of the rear panel. The SVSB TV Antenna / Cable In jack is open. Can I hook an HD antenna into this and get local broadcast HD in good quality? How would my reciever treat these? Would it see the new channels and let me browse through them? I don't know about this stuff, so any help regarding local HD channels would be greatly appreciated. Links to good antennas would be sweet as well.
Thanks in advance!!!

im getting HD thru time warner digital cable... so im anxious like you, but not sure how the sat HD works

the local network channels broadcast their HD programming over the air in HD, so yes you can get an HD antenna and it'll work. your TV might have a seperate input you have to switch to for the2nd antenna

My TV gets its video VIA the component out on the reciever. The reciever has chanels 1 and 2 which just correlate to the video inputs on the back. But I don't know how it treats signals from the SVSB / Cable input. Maybe it has certain channels dedicated to that input that just show static right now... I have not browsed through the 9000 + channels.
