Any traction problems? What do stock mp3s usually get? High 16s?

traction was great my slowest 60 foot of the day was a 2.377, fastest being that 2.223. 1/8th mile times were great too, the mp3 just has ZERO top end, i need my header on it like now.

and stock on this track i couldnt break 17.0, fastest time ever stock was 17.009

Hmm, that's interesting. Those are REALLY good 60' times considering the times. For some reason it seems you're just not making power. When I did a 16.3, it was at 84mph. Mph is indicitive of horsepower. Very odd times indeed. One would think the cold air would help your speed also....

Sometimes when the temp is too cold, it could do more damage then good. Possible 40 is too cold for the runs. I know my P5 runs best between 50-60F.

this is the pimpness cuz my lats name is boyd

yeah 46 is too cold for proper mixture atomization, at least towards redline...its close...by 54 degrees it starts to get into the "perfect" cold...But it depends on a lot of things, heat soak and other things have huge affects on it...despite being cold outside, the engine could be warmer than usuall after a few runs, which defeats everything I just said...

what mods are you running right now? just an intake?

...Lighter wheels wouldn't hurt either. =) The MP3's wheels are pretty nice, but pretty heavy, too. Maybe invest in some lighter 16's or 15's for dragging or whatnot?

your 1/4 mile trap is about 4.5mph faster than my 1/8th mile trap. However you skunked me on 60' and my best et in the 1/8th was only .1s faster than yours all motor. Launching these protege's is crap.

nice 60ft time! ya gotta be real happy with that. if you have a look on www.dragtimes.com you'll see not many ppl get below that time (well atleast with our cars)

atleast take a good point away from the night!

i was estatic with my 60 foot times, this track just plain sucks ass to, so on a really correctly prepped track i could MAYBE hit a 2.1 60. i'll take it agian next when i get the header on it.

on another note: celica gts's are faster than i thought my friends hit 14.8 with just a cold air and muffler.

yeah they are pretty quick for 1/4 mile with the right driver...trick is that engine can't stand being over-revved... A lot of those things popped after just a couple bounces off the limiter, which in the older GT-S's was set too high...but the gearing is too long, and it comes off the big cam profile at almost every shift...

So they move when you find a guy willing to take it up close to the limiter (which is a few hundred rpm above the redline), which keeps the big cam profile on boild the whole run...unless it breaks...that blackCelicaGTS dude used to come on here a lot, and show 1/4mile times from his forum...and for the stock GT-S's running at the same track, there would be radically different times...like a second apart from different drivers...

Is 'race weight' when you run without your hood on?

^^^

haha that sounds somewhat familar!

Seriously just get yourself a nice set of rota slip's and some nice tires..at least for the front for track days..You can also put a locking ring in the rear springs to stiffen up the rear end on launch..Just gotta watch that 1-2 shift and don't crunch it!

You'd be suprised at how little hoods weigh these days. Not much weight savings there. But then again, this is coming from the guy who's removed carpet fasteners in back seat....

Another drag trick I picked up(from the guys on the GRM forum), is using ratcheting tie downs to pull your engine tight to the rad support. This will keep the entire engine/drivetrain taught, and prevent wheel hop.
