italian style H plate

I'm curious to know what you guys mean by the OEM boot "looking like crap" w/ the short throw. I have a feeling I will like the way it looks, I'm guessing it looks fatter and fluffed out (G35 style). Take a pic if you can, I know this is what you guys are trying to get rid of but I'm thinking I'd like it.

Infiniti G35 6MT interior.

u may like the looks, even though it's a little more than the pic you posted...however, It seems to interfere with some shifts...not all the time, but i dont like it....espescially going into 5th gear...

Think maybe this is something to talk to Dave B about machining out of billet aluminum, with a rubber backing as a dust boot. Fiberglass would be too weak.

i dont think its even possible to have an H plate on this car with a short shifter. for one i went and measured the throw between 3rd and 4th gear and its only about 2" difference, then from 1st to 5th is a little over 2" (i think, i forgot to write that one down) now thats not THAT big of a problem, but the next thing is. on the TWM SS where one of the cables connects to the shifter it sticks above the level of where the H plate would be. its kinda hard to explain so maybe the pics will clear it up.
Notice in the last pic when the cars in 4th gear (or 2nd or reverse) the joint where the cable attaches to the shifter is above the level of the tape measure. the tape is about level with where an H plate would be, so every time u shifted into 2nd, 4th, or reverse that joint would hit the underside of the H plate.
anyone correct me if im wrong here.

PS the first pic is what it looks like with the boot in N

I think it's visually appealing.

The boot gets in the way when shifting into 5th?

The boot doesnt seem to bother me while shiftin into 5th. it kinda did at first but then i just tucked the boot down along the side so it wasnt all bunched up.

good advice, I'll try that.....and good post as well...I was thinking about that, but didnt know how to explain it well....

PS-how'd you do you c/f interior????? It looks great!

Bad News Y'all

i formed up the plate and it looked great, absolutly stunning, i put it on with the car in first gear, revved it up and took off, shifted into second a boom!!! the shift linkage hit the bottom of the plate and that was the end of her. so it is now official, no possibility of the H plate

But the twm shifter kicks ass
